Hello Again, My book on Fred Neil was released a few weeks ago and is available at Amazon books. It contains a number of pictures of Fred with Miguel 12-string. There is also a stand alone picture of the instrument as well.

Friends, owners and knowers of Miguel Company Guitars. I just purchased this guitar. The owner said it belonged to her uncle who lived in Miami most of his life. The Label is unusual, yet the address is the same as receipts on this sight dated in 1975. The name "Miguel Company" is the same, yet it is made in Spain. It looks like many of the other flamenco guitars featured here. Anyone know the story?

Hi Miguel guitar fans! My friend Sandy Levy posted this last year sometime, I'm Lori Blackwell, Georges widow:

Sandy Wrote= I am delighted to have found this page! My friend George Blackwell introduced me to Miguel in the early 1970’s. Living in Miami, I was in his shop many times. I even still have Miguel’s business card! In any event, George had large hands so he had Miguel make him a 6-string using a 12-string neck. George tells me that Miguel made three guitars like this...one for my friend George, one for Jose Feliciano, and another for a well known musician and I don’t remember his name. As George told the story, one was stolen, and one burned up in a fire, leaving George with the one remaining guitar. George could REALLY make that Miguel Guitar sing! George played regularly at “The Flick” Coffeehouse in Miami during the 1960’s and 1970s. Perhaps some of you remember George Blackwell? In any event, I had been searching for a Miguel Guitar for years, and I finally found one about 20-25 years ago. It hold a special place in my collection and in my heart.

The third person that Sandy couldn't remember is Michael Johnson of "Bluer than Blue" fame. Michael stayed with me and George one time when he had a Miami gig, they jammed for awhile, I sat awe struck listening. They were so alike in their style having played together in groups in the 60's.
I have George's Miguel #396 1969.

Here is a curiosity.... Rolando Gonzalez wrote the following to me...

My name is Rolando Gonzalez and I your help. While I was just browsing through a music store in Miami, I saw these vintage bongos for a good price and I decided to buy it. I brought them home and started looking closely to see what brand they were. The only thing I knew was that they were trade at the store and they came from Cuba. I search online and I only founded guitars for Miguel Company.

Can you help me found information about Miguel Company making other instruments and maybe anyone who can do an appraisal on the bongos?

Buzz Nofal sent this comment about his custom made Miguel Guitars... see pictures in the photo albums.

"In 1965, I asked Miguel to make me a 6 string(steel) to match a fabulous 12 string he had made for my several months earlier. He did a great job matching the 6 to the 12 and I do believe the 6 is one of the best guitars I have ever played. The pics show the label inside with 1965 on it but, for some reason, Miguel did not number it. I do not know why."

"I still have the 12 string as well and will post that when I have time. But here is the 6 string."

Juan Mena sent the following note...

Hey guys, I thought you may appreciate this. Originally purchased for my mom, in 1975. I've been told that it was the last guitar Miguel ever made. I still have the original receipt, and the case it came with.
