Meet one of the jurors helping shape EYECON: Charlie Champagne

A q***r photographer, artist, and advocate, Charlie has become a major force in Baton Rouge’s creative community. Their work has included collaborations with organizations like the LSU Museum of Art and the LSU School of Theater.

Champagne has long championed q***r visibility in Baton Rouge's local art scene by serving on the boards of Baton Rouge Pride and the You Aren't Alone Project. Champagne also founded Leur Maison, a local q***r art collaborative that uplifts q***r creatives' voices and connects them to opportunities to share their art with our local community.

Their perspective and passion for uplifting LGBTQ+ voices will play an important role in selecting artists for EYECON, on view June 7–July 3.

Artists can submit work through May 8 at artsbr.submittable.com/submit/351341/artist-call-eyecon

The Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge is currently accepting submissions for their Pride Exhibition, "EYECON", a juried exhibition dedicated to celebrating iconic individuals and pivotal moments in Louisiana’s LGBTQ+ community and history.
