Bee Nice Music Baton Rouge is a local music concert series put on by Penni & Dave Mooney in their funky and eclectic backyard in Baton Rouge. The venue is a covered porch in front of a vintage travel trailer in Penni and Dave's backyard on Capital Heights Ave. The yard is strung with lights from tree to tree, giving it a warm, cozy ambiance. According to blues legend, Larry Garner, it's "the coole
st back yard in Baton Rouge." Bee Nice Music came about because he loves live music and she loves to dance. Neither of them drink or enjoy smoky barrooms, and they would both prefer to be asleep by the time most live music starts in Baton Rouge. Also, they enjoy sharing their unique back yard with friends and neighbors. Dave called several musicians and asked the question: "if I built a stage, set up a PA system, and invited the neighbors, would you play for passing the hat?" They all said "yes." Mid-City Church will be operating the concession stand this spring. Between acts and near the end of the night, we pass the hat to collect donations for the artists. All funds collected go to the artists at the end of each night. No funds go to Bee Nice Music, Dave or Penni. Because the neighbors are so appreciative of the music and generous to the artists, we're able to attract people like Larry Garner, a world traveling blues man from Baton Rouge, Yvette Landry, a Grammy nominated singer songwriter from Breaux Bridge, and Steve "Juice" Judice a Baton Rouge singer/songwriter who has been making a name for himself in the Texas Country music scene for several years now, among other artists. All shows are scheduled on Friday nights during late Spring through May, then start back September 1, usually from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Bring your chairs, ice chests with the beverage of your choice (alcohol is ok). Bring your children and your grandmothers, as these are G rated family friendly shows. Bring money for the musicians and for hot dogs. Bee Nice Music has three rules:
