We pause to honor the life and legacy of a true servant leader, mentor, and champion of student development, someone whose impact will forever be felt at Southern University.
A proud graduate of the Recreation and Leisure Studies Department, he exemplified excellence both at BREC and Southern University. His knowledge extended far beyond the classroom. As a master swimming instructor and water safety instructor, he did more than teach skills, he saved lives, built confidence, and instilled discipline in countless students.
His vision and dedication helped solidify a lasting legacy through his instrumental role in the naming of the Horace W. Moody Intramural Sports Complex, honoring one of the pioneers of intramural sports at the university. Through his efforts, history was preserved while paving the way for future generations.
More than his titles and accomplishments, he was family, a second father, an uncle, and a steady presence to so many students who found in him wisdom, accountability, and unwavering support. In the fields of recreation, leisure, and sports, he mentored with purpose, shaping not only professionals, but strong and principled individuals.
We thank God for his guidance, his laughter, and his love. His legacy is etched not only in facilities and programs, but in the lives he touched and the hearts he nurtured.
He has truly left an indelible mark on Southern University. He will be deeply missed, but never forgotten. 🩵💛🐆
