From singing and dancing in musicals to taking on one of theater’s most challenging dramatic roles, Lyla Jones is stepping into the shoes of Helen Keller in Batavia Players’ production of The Miracle Worker.

Today’s edition of Batavia Daily News features Lyla and her fellow cast members as they share what makes this powerful story of determination, perseverance and hope so special.

This production is especially meaningful as we mark 100 years since Helen Keller’s historic visit to Batavia in 1926.

Annie Sullivan came to the Keller home with one goal: to reach Helen.

This week, that story moves into its final stages as The Miracle Worker enters tech week. Jodi Sacks as Annie Sullivan and Lyla Jones as Helen Keller are at the heart of the story, portraying the frustration, persistence, trust, and extraordinary breakthrough that develops between teacher and student.

After weeks of rehearsal, opening night is almost here.

The Miracle Worker opens THIS FRIDAY, October 9.
