What a fun and creative Saturday!

We started the day at Nakama Studio with our Pancakes & Pajamas Tie-Dye Party! Guests of all ages showed up in their favorite pajamas (yes, even the adults joined in!), enjoyed a pancake breakfast with all the fixings, decorated sleep masks and created colorful tie-dye pillowcases to take home.

After wrapping up a morning full of breakfast and creativity, we headed over to Dead Low Brewing for our Turkish Mosaic Lamp & Candle Holder Workshop. Participants spent the afternoon designing beautiful mosaic pieces while enjoying great food, drinks, and company.

From pancakes and pajamas to mosaic lamps and candle holders, it was a day filled with creativity, connection, and community, everything we love most about what we do at Nakama Studio.

Thank you to everyone who joined us at these events. We can’t wait to create with you again soon! ❤️

This quote hit me hard today.

Life has felt really heavy lately. Running a small business isn’t easy, and when your family depends on not one, but two small businesses, the weight of that responsibility can feel overwhelming at times.

Lately, it feels like we’ve been facing challenge after challenge (not all business related), with many questions still unanswered and situations still unresolved. The uncertainty is often the hardest part for me because I like to have a plan and know where things are headed.

But despite it all, I still find myself choosing joy.

Not because I think everything will be easy. Not because the struggles aren’t real. And not because I have all the answers.

I choose joy because I believe there is still hope.

I believe that even when life doesn’t make sense, things can still work out in ways we can’t yet see. I believe that challenges can teach us, strengthen us, and sometimes redirect us toward something we never would have found otherwise.

Life is full of difficult seasons, and one thing I’ve learned is that everyone is carrying something. Every person you meet is fighting battles you know nothing about. Some are visible. Many are not.

So choose kindness.

Be patient. Give grace. Offer encouragement. Smile at a stranger. Check on a friend.

You never truly know what another human being is going through, and a small act of kindness can make a bigger difference than you realize.

Today I’m choosing gratitude for what is going right, faith for the things I can’t control, hope for what is still to come, and kindness for those walking their own difficult paths. ❤️

Last Friday, we had the pleasure of hosting for a summer field trip at Nakama Studio!

The kids created beautiful sea glass framed art, and it was so much fun watching their creativity shine. One of our favorite things about this project is that no two pieces ever turn out the same. Each artist brings their own unique ideas and style to their work.

The kids were incredibly proud of what they created, and they even started their own Jelly Bean Junction honeycomb cluster on our community art wall!

We had a wonderful group and look forward to hosting many more field trips in the future. For field trips, we work with each group’s budget and can customize projects to fit their needs and ages.

Thank you for spending part of your summer with us, Jelly Bean Junction!

We are thrilled to announce that Nakama Studio has recently undergone some renovations, and we have increased schedule availability to add more wonderful classes. Our supportive environment is more welcoming than ever, and we are excited to add even more classes for kids and adults this year.

This picture is the beginning of our community art wall. The goal is to cover this entire wall in art, and we are looking for more art to add. If you have art you would like to donate, that is great, but we are also looking for artists who have art that they would like to display for sale. Artists will only be charged processing fees for any art that is sold. If you are interested in adding art to our wall or know someone who you think would be, please share!

Also, I picked up shelves over the weekend to bring back our Free Craft Supply Shelves that we offered a few years ago.

We’re now accepting donations of new or gently used craft supplies. Items will be organized on shelves for studio visitors to browse and take for free.

Have extra craft materials you’re not using? Contact me to arrange dropping them off at the studio and help inspire someone else’s creativity! 513-827-1299 Julie

We also have an upgraded community board in our entry way, so bring some business cards to hang or event fliers to add when you visit the studio.

Today was an amazing day at our Eco Artists & Nature Engineers Camp!

We started by listening to the beautiful book Mossy and then created mixed-media turtle artwork using watercolors, moss, and dried flowers. Campers also added their own wood honeycomb pieces to our growing community art wall, made watercolor butterflies for a collaborative summer camp art project, and created nature suncatchers using dried flowers and leaves.

Our older campers got an additional project and designed beautiful sea glass framed art pieces.

To top it all off, we enjoyed hands-on encounters with the amazing creatures from Tucker's Party Animals and worked together to create a special collaborative accessory for their turtle, Squirtle!

It was a day full of creativity, nature, problem-solving, and unforgettable animal experiences. We love watching campers explore, create, and connect while making memories that will last long after camp is over.

All camps are led by Nakama Studio and The Crayon Cauldron. All camps are $35 per child with a new theme every week. Next week is our Scales and Tails Camp and we still have spots available. Grab your seats over on our website. www.nakamastudio.org.

Last weekend was nothing short of magical.

A few years ago, I started a crafting group at my house because I wanted to make more time for creativity and connect with people who shared similar interests. What I found was so much more than that.

Over the years, this group has grown into a circle of incredible women I’m proud to call friends. We laugh together, create together, support each other, and somehow always leave inspired.

Within five minutes of arriving at our Airbnb for our annual crafting retreat, we stepped onto the deck and were greeted by a mama bear and her FOUR cubs just feet away. They spent hours around the property napping in the trees, nursing on the hillside, and making themselves completely at home around our fire pit. It was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

While they were hanging around the property, we spent hours photographing and recording them from a safe distance, completely in awe of the experience. It felt like something out of a movie.

As if that wasn’t enough, it was also a blue full moon weekend. So naturally, we had to commemorate the experience with matching tattoos featuring our mama bear, cubs, and moon.

The synchronicities didn’t stop there. Throughout the weekend, there were so many moments that felt perfectly aligned that it honestly blew my mind. We even harvested and pressed ferns during our trip, which we’ll soon turn into UV resin necklaces to have another meaningful keepsake to remember such a special weekend.

The days were filled with crafting, thrifting, creativity, laughter, and the comfort of being completely ourselves. No filters. No expectations. Just friendship, connection, and making memories together.

And as a bonus, I came home with even more thrifted treasures that will soon find their way onto the gallery walls at Nakama Studio. Every piece has a story, and this trip added a few more special ones to tell.

My heart is so full of gratitude for this incredible group of women and the community that grew from a simple idea around a crafting table years ago.

Already counting down until the next adventure.

What a fantastic first day of summer camp!

Monday our campers put their imaginations to work as they created terrarium nightlight jars complete with mythical creatures they crafted from clay. They also designed their own unique fantasy creatures, painted watercolor pieces for a collaborative art project, and decorated hexagons that will become part of our growing honeycomb wall at the studio.

Of course, one of the highlights of the day was meeting some amazing creatures from Tucker's Party Animals ! The kids loved getting up close with reptiles and learning all about them.

We had so much fun creating, learning, and connecting together. We can’t wait for next week’s adventure!

We still have spots available for our June 8th Eco Artists & Nature Engineers Summer Camp. We will create mixed media art with watercolors, moss, dried flowers and leaves and some inspiration from Tucker’s Party Animals Creatures. The kids will get to enjoy creature encounters too❤️. We have plenty of supplies, so walk-ins are welcome.
