Last weekend was nothing short of magical.
A few years ago, I started a crafting group at my house because I wanted to make more time for creativity and connect with people who shared similar interests. What I found was so much more than that.
Over the years, this group has grown into a circle of incredible women I’m proud to call friends. We laugh together, create together, support each other, and somehow always leave inspired.
Within five minutes of arriving at our Airbnb for our annual crafting retreat, we stepped onto the deck and were greeted by a mama bear and her FOUR cubs just feet away. They spent hours around the property napping in the trees, nursing on the hillside, and making themselves completely at home around our fire pit. It was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
While they were hanging around the property, we spent hours photographing and recording them from a safe distance, completely in awe of the experience. It felt like something out of a movie.
As if that wasn’t enough, it was also a blue full moon weekend. So naturally, we had to commemorate the experience with matching tattoos featuring our mama bear, cubs, and moon.
The synchronicities didn’t stop there. Throughout the weekend, there were so many moments that felt perfectly aligned that it honestly blew my mind. We even harvested and pressed ferns during our trip, which we’ll soon turn into UV resin necklaces to have another meaningful keepsake to remember such a special weekend.
The days were filled with crafting, thrifting, creativity, laughter, and the comfort of being completely ourselves. No filters. No expectations. Just friendship, connection, and making memories together.
And as a bonus, I came home with even more thrifted treasures that will soon find their way onto the gallery walls at Nakama Studio. Every piece has a story, and this trip added a few more special ones to tell.
My heart is so full of gratitude for this incredible group of women and the community that grew from a simple idea around a crafting table years ago.
Already counting down until the next adventure.
