“But I’m not creative…”

We hear this ALL the time before classes.

One of my favorite things about what we do at Nakama is watching someone walk in convinced they’re “not artistic” and leave a couple of hours later carrying something they can’t believe they actually made.

You don’t need experience.
You don’t need to be naturally artistic.
And you definitely don’t need to know what you’re doing before you get here.

That’s what the class is for!

We provide the supplies, walk you through the process and help you along the way. You just have to be willing to try something new.

And yes, beginners made these!

We had a full house last night for the Terrarium Social Club Class with Bulbs Deep! We enjoyed providing the space and would love to collaborate more in the future❤️

Stay tuned for more plant classes! We have a cedar cookie mounted fern class coming up in November.

WHAT SHOULD WE BRING BACK TO NAKAMA?

Looking through all of our old pictures for our 5-year anniversary reminded me just how many different things we’ve done over the years!

We’ve had art classes, LEGO clubs, LEGO robotics, engineering classes, crochet, sewing, Tie Dye, Youth Baking & Decorating, Cake Decorating, paint your pet, flower arranging, candle making, vendor markets, all kinds of enrichment classes… and even goat, kitten AND puppy yoga.

So now I’m curious…

What would you love to see us bring back?

It can be something you remember doing at Nakama OR something completely new that you’ve always wished we offered.

Nakama Studio is turning 5!

It’s wild to think that we opened the studio five years ago. So much has changed since those early days, but one thing hasn’t. I’ve always wanted Nakama to be a place where people can come create, try something new and connect with others.

So we’re celebrating with a 5 Year Anniversary Party!

**NAKAMA STUDIO IS TURNING 5!**

This September marks FIVE YEARS of Nakama Studio, and it's so wild looking back at pictures from those very early days. It's honestly hard to believe it's already been five years!

These pictures are from our very first class ever with OH Honey Custom Designs LLC. Looking back at where we started and thinking about everything that's happened inside these walls since then is pretty incredible.

Over the past five years, we've done SO much. We've had art classes, LEGO clubs, robotics and engineering, vendor markets, enrichment classes of just about every kind... we've even done goat, kitten AND puppy yoga. 😂 We've watched kids grow up coming to classes here, welcomed people trying something completely new for the first time, and somehow we're still constantly coming up with new things to try.

But one of my favorite things to come from the studio has been the people.

When I opened Nakama in 2021, I wanted it to be more than just a place to take a class. I wanted to create a space where people could try new things, be creative, connect and find community.

Nakama means “a friend who's like family,” and over the past five years, the studio has lived up to its name in ways I never expected. Some of my closest friends today are people I first met when they walked through our doors for a class or event.

We've made a LOT of art, made plenty of messes, tried some pretty unusual things, learned together, changed and grown and met so many amazing people along the way.

And now somehow... we're turning FIVE!

We definitely can't let this milestone pass without doing something special, so stay tuned for details about our 5th anniversary celebration this September!

In the meantime, I'm feeling a little nostalgic looking through all these old photos...

Step outside. Feel the sunshine or the breeze. Listen to the birds. Watch the butterflies, the clouds, or the stars tonight. Notice the tiny details that are so easy to miss when life gets busy.

There is so much beauty all around us. We just have to take a moment to look for it.

Wishing you a peaceful day filled with wonder, gratitude, and a little time to simply enjoy the world around you.

Our first fall-themed class of the season is almost here!

We’re kicking off fall creativity with these adorable Hand Knit Pumpkins on September 5th at 12 PM!

Using soft, chunky yarn, you’ll create your own cozy pumpkin, perfect for adding a handmade touch to your fall décor. No knitting experience needed!

Suitable for ages 10+

Come get into the fall spirit and create something you can bring out year after year!

HOMESCHOOL CLASSES + EVENING CLASS SERIES ARE STARTING SOON!

We may not have public events happening this coming weekend, but September is about to get BUSY at Nakama Studio!

Several of our homeschool classes and evening class series are starting soon, which means registration deadlines are coming up too!

Homeschool Art Foundations
A 12-week creative art series for ages 8–13 with a new project each week! Students will explore the Elements of Art, experiment with different materials and techniques, and build their creative confidence.

Beginner Crochet — Friday Daytime Series
Fridays • 10 AM–12 PM
Starts September 11
4-week series • Ages 9+

Beginner Crochet — Tuesday Evening Series
Tuesdays • 6–8 PM
Starts September 15
4-week series • Ages 9+

Both crochet series are designed for complete beginners, no previous experience needed!

Registration for Homeschool Art and Crochet ends September 7!
