Margolis Method CREATE THEATRE WITH EVERY BREATH
Take the mystery out of acting through immersive theatre training

Margolis Method has been developed through daily studio research over the last 35 years by Kari Margolis and dedicated theatre artists. What initially began as a way to train actors for the MB ADAPTORS professional, touring theatre company, has grown into an internationally recognized methodology for empowering theatre artists to own their craft. Margolis Method takes the mystery out of acting by

offering tangible, practicable exercises that allow the actor to build and hone their skills as a true craftsperson. Training takes place in a challenging yet supportive environment that inspires students to find the essence of theatre in every breath. Margolis Method organically synthesizes the vital connections between the physical, intellectual, and intuitive, while merging muscular and vocal expression. The Method is a three-dimensional approach to theatre training that merges the skill sets of acting, directing and playwriting to build what we call the “Actor Warrior.”

Margolis Method is not an aesthetic but a comprehensive series of highly theatrical exercises based on the universal principles of physics and communication. Training in the Method will make you a stronger theatre artist in any theatrical style or aesthetic, ranging from abstract, experimental to linear, text-based plays.

Artist. Teacher. Director. All at once.

In this educator testimonial, Kymberly shares how Margolis Method supports the whole theatre educator — not only as a teacher, but as an artist and director.

The work offers concrete exercises, embodied practice, and a shared vocabulary for guiding students with more clarity, specificity, and confidence.

“You are breathing. You are thinking. You will feel.”

How can one simple action become theatre?

In this clip from The Activated Classroom, Kari Margolis demonstrates how a simple pendulum exercise can become a way to explore the relationship between a character’s private inner life and public outer world.

This is one of the ways Margolis Method makes abstract acting concepts more concrete.

Instead of asking students to “be vulnerable” or “show more emotion,” the work gives them physical conditions they can investigate, repeat, and refine.

A simple physical action becomes a way to help actors investigate:
what is happening internally,
what is being expressed externally,
how long a moment can live,
and what makes a choice feel honest, theatrical, and alive.

The Activated Classroom: Margolis Method Fundamentals for Educators opens June 1, with bonus materials available immediately, and lifetime access to the course.

End-of-School-Year Early Enrollment is $100 off through May 31.

From inside The Activated Classroom:
“Every concept about acting is only valid if we have an actual, tangible way to practice it.”

That belief sits at the heart of Margolis Method.

Because when we ask students to “be honest,” “be vulnerable,” or “make stronger choices” without giving them a physical pathway to practice those things, acting can start to feel mysterious, personal, or impossible to repeat.

The Activated Classroom is a self-paced course that offers educators concrete, embodied tools for helping students turn those ideas into practice.

Our newest production, FLIGHT, was such a big hit at the Provincetown Tennessee Williams’ Festival last fall that we’re thrilled to now have this opportunity to share this work with local audiences in our very own theatrical space in Highland Lake, NY!

This highly visual and physical solo adaptation of Tennessee Williams’ little-known short story, “A Day in the Life of a Clerk,” delves into the dreams and desires of a secret poet who yearns for artistic freedom in a world threatened by the simple act of being different.

FLIGHT explores pathos with humor, the mundane with whimsy, and a longing for beauty and purpose.

We’ve continued to develop the production with new scenes, music, and multimedia, and can’t wait to share it with you!

MB Adaptors is an ensemble company where members wear many different hats, and everyone contributes to the creative process.

We’re Back and Flying High!

We pulled into the MM Center parking lot with our 15’ truck exhausted but elated from our whirlwind week at the Provincetown Tennessee Williams Festival.

FLIGHT was a huge success with five standing ovation audiences, so many hugs and most importantly wonderful and heartfelt conversations.

The production hit an emotional core and audiences identified with the main character Edward Schiller’s struggle to give voice to his artistic soul in a world that couldn’t hear it.

Our MB Adaptors team gave it their all to bring Williams short story to life. Jarod Hanson’s compelling performance, Tony Brown’s intriguing musical compositions and multimedia magic, and Angela Kiser’s evocative lighting design and hands on running of the show only the way and actor can. It was an honor to direct this project and I’m filled with gratitude for the opportunity.

A special thanks to the Provincetown Tennessee Williams Theater Festival, David Kaplan, the incredible support team and volunteers, and all our individual donors who made the event possible.

We Got a Match!
You can make double the impact…

We leave for the Provincetown Tennessee Williams Festival in just five days and are ready to take Flight.

But we still need your help because the cost of truck rentals, hotels, and meals is beyond what the Festival can cover.

The good news is today we received a matching donation challenge of up to $1,000, so every dollar donated will have twice the helping power!

With this matching donation, even the smallest contribution will be a huge help!

It’s been a whirlwind for the last few weeks and our hearts are full from the artistic adventure of bringing Williams’ soulful story to the stage.

With your help, we can get the production to the festival for its world premiere and the beginning of what we hope will be a long life afterward.

Help us make it to the full $1,000 match!

Thank you in advance for your consideration and support!

The MB ADAPTORS are headed to the Tennessee Williams Festival in Provincetown with a new piece adapted from Williams' text. Help us bring the compelling new theatrical exploration of a dreamer's longing to fly to life!
