I set up & cranked up the ol’ reel to reel tonight & found some live Dixie Doughboys tapes, and demos of some originals I don’t even remember writing! I love working and creating with the latest and greatest technology nowadays, but there’s something satisfying about watching the reels spin as the music plays!

I always loved the Beach Boys and Brian Wilson’s beautiful harmony arrangements, so when I saw this album in the habitat, restore, had to check it out. I’ve heard him say in interviews what a fan he was of the Hi lo‘s and I can see why… and great instrumentation on this album too, it really swings!  Merging the Hi Lo’s style close harmony with Chuck Berry’s Rock ‘n Roll was truly genius!
