I received my awards for last week's game. I shot a 232 and ended with a 589 series! .... Ohh and I beat my Dad 😉

So this year we are going to start selling our year books. The price of the yearbook will be $5. Inside the yearbook is the contact information for the Northwest Louisiana USBC, Louisiana State USBC, the Southern Congress, information on our 3 houses, awards, honor awards through the years, and bowler averages for both adult and youth. To the bowlers of Junior Gold 2024,

As I sit at the DV8 Shootout and watch the kids check in it reminded me of my events competing at Junior Gold.

As a past participant of Junior Gold years ago, one thing I wish I would have done while competing is enjoy the moment.I would probably be a much better bowler than I am today had I put my ego aside, watched the better bowlers, asked questions and practiced with a purpose during the weeks of my Junior Gold competition. I was too caught up in being mad about my missed spares, not striking and arguing with my parents, telling them they didn’t know what they were doing instead of taking it all in and learning from the good and bad moments.

My advice to each competitor in the 2024 Junior Gold Championships is this…

First, enjoy yourself and have fun as if tomorrow isn’t guaranteed because it’s not.

Secondly, DO NOT argue with your parents or those that brought you to this great event, you wouldn’t be there without them! These people took time off or work and spent hard earned money to bring you here to compete. Thank them for taking you to every tournament you bowl!

TO THE PARENTS: let the kids enjoy the moment, don’t get upset as they are more nervous than you could ever imagine!

Third, learn from every shot you make whether it’s good or bad. Ask yourself why you didn’t strike or why you struck when you thought you shouldn’t have. If you don’t have an answer, ask someone that might know. This will help you gain knowledge for future events.

Lastly, MAKE YOUR SPARES!!! Every pin left standing, could be the difference in making a cut or not!
