A proud member of the Albemarle Craftsman’s Guild and a Fair participant since 1978, Max has spent decades sharing his exceptional craftsmanship and creating belts his customers love.

🎨 Meet the Artist: Carolyn Sleeper! 🏺

🌟 A Little About Carolyn

A retired art teacher from Washington, NC, Carolyn has been an Eastern North Carolina clay artist since 2004. Her pottery is whimsical, beautifully creative, and sometimes functional, blending artistic expression with everyday charm. Carolyn continues to share her love of clay through exhibits and by teaching exceptional students in her studio.

✨🌈 Meet the Artist: Gail Lane — A Love of Art Glass! 🌈✨

We’re delighted to welcome Gail Lane back for her second year at the 66th Albemarle Craftsman’s Fair! Gail will be showcasing and selling her beautiful fused glass and stained glass creations. From colorful decorative pieces to stunning stained glass designs, her work celebrates the beauty of glass, light, and color.

🏡 Have a special vision for your home? You may even want to commission Gail to create a custom stained glass window! What a wonderful way to add a personal touch and the beauty of handcrafted art to your home.

✨ A Little About the Artist

Gail’s love of stained glass began when she was a little girl, captivated by the beautiful colors and reflections of church windows. Those early memories inspired her dream of creating stained glass windows of her own.

About 30 years ago, she took a stained glass class at College of The Albemarle (COA), beginning her journey into the world of glass art. Three years ago, she expanded her creative adventures by purchasing a kiln and learning the art of fused glass.

Because fused glass requires techniques quite different from traditional stained glass, Gail continues to learn and explore through books, YouTube, and conversations with fellow glass artists. Today, she creates both stained and fused glass art, works with two kilns, and teaches three stained glass classes each week!

Gail says it best: “What a joy!” She’s excited to share her creations and introduce others to the wonderful world of art glass.

“I started collecting sea glass about 15 years ago with a friend. Coming from Canada, I was more used to mountains, lakes, and streams — so I had no clue what sea glass was! At first, I wasn’t too excited about what I found… until I discovered a gorgeous nugget. From that moment on, I was hooked! After filling boxes with glass, a friend suggested I learn how to wire wrap. One piece led to another, and within a year, I had found my niche.” — Anita Thompson

🧺✨ Meet the Artist: Judy Wobbleton! ✨🧺

A basketry artist and Martin County native, Judy Wobbleton has been creatively weaving baskets for more than 40 years! Using traditional techniques, Judy creates beautiful, functional baskets inspired by Native American and traditional Appalachian designs.

Her talent and craftsmanship have earned her work recognition in several publications. Beyond creating her own beautiful pieces, Judy is passionate about preserving the art and tradition of basketry and passing her knowledge and appreciation of this time-honored craft on to future generations.

“I make fused glass items — from jewelry pieces crafted with sterling silver and glass to a variety of usable home décor such as garden stakes, ornaments, and wall décor. I’ll have many of these available at the Fair this year!”

✨ Meet the Artist: Dorothy Ansell

Dorothy Ansell will be showing and selling her unique handcrafted jewelry, beautifully designed by combining glass with metals such as sterling silver and copper. Each piece is a lovely blend of color, texture, and craftsmanship!

💎 Artist’s Statement:

Years ago, Dorothy fell in love with glass. Believing that beautiful glass deserved an equally beautiful finish, she found her way to metalworking.

While living in the Southwest, Dorothy studied silversmithing in Oklahoma, Texas, and New Mexico, where she learned how to bezel-set glass with sterling silver.

After moving to North Carolina and enrolling at the College of The Albemarle, she learned many other ways to bring glass and metal together. Today, she continues to create beautiful glass and silver jewelry.
