Here are answers to some of the most frequently asked questions before your visit
Where are you located?
We're located at McHorney's Odditorium, 4429 Caratoke Highway in Barco, NC.
Can I buy tickets at the gate?
Yes! Tickets are available online or at the gate.
How scary is it?
Let's just say we didn't build this place to give you a relaxing evening stroll. Backwoods Haunt is a high intensity haunted attraction packed with live actors, dark environments, and plenty of surprises
Is it kid friendly?
We recommend Backwoods Haunt for ages 16 and up because of our intense scenes and scares. Guests under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Parents, you know your kids best!
Can actors touch you?
Our regular experience is completely no contact. But if you're looking for something a little more intense, we offer an optional Touch Pass upgrade at the gate. Want to get up close and personal with the creatures of the woods? That's your call!
How long does it take to go through?
Plan for approximately 15–20 minutes.
What if it rains?
We’ll stay open through a light sprinkle, but if it turns into a downpour, we’ll close for the safety of our guests and actors. Check our page for weather updates before heading out.
Is parking free?
Yes, free parking is available on-site.
How far from the Outer Banks?
We’re about 40 minutes from the Outer Banks.
