Tonight is the first session of UNSCRIPTED: Union Playwriting Lab! ✍️🎭

Join us tonight, Monday, June 1, from 6:00–8:00 PM in Rector Little Theatre, for the first gathering of our new monthly writers’ group, open to both campus and community members.

For this first session, we’ll talk together about how we want to approach the group, what our goals are, and what future projects we might want to explore. We’ll also make space for writing, sharing ideas, and building creative community.

In future sessions, writers are invited to bring scripts, scenes, stories, or works in progress. We’ll read together, offer supportive feedback, and help each other keep writing. No polished draft required — just bring your ideas and a willingness to create.

This is a low-commitment, welcoming space to show up, write, share, and connect.

🎭 UCU THEATRE ANNOUNCES ITS 2026–2027 SEASON 🎭
Humanity on the Brink

What happens when the world begins to fracture? When systems collapse, certainty disappears, and survival asks us to become something new?

This season, UCU Theatre invites audiences into two thrilling and deeply human stories that explore the edge between destruction and hope, chaos and connection. Through dark comedy, myth, music, and imagination, Humanity on the Brink examines what remains when the world changes around us—and what it means to still choose care, love, and each other.

🖤🐝 THE APIARY by Kate Douglas
📅 October 22–24, 2026

It’s 2044. Bees are extinct—except inside synthetic apiaries where perpetual spring keeps them alive. But something has changed. The bees have developed a terrifying new hunger: flesh.

As the hive evolves beyond human control, lab assistants Zora and Pilar are forced to confront impossible ethical questions about survival, responsibility, and what humanity owes to the creatures it has manipulated. Darkly funny, unsettling, and wildly original, The Apiary is a razor-sharp theatrical experience that asks what happens when nature fights back.

✨🧵 STRING by Sarah Hammond and Adam Gwon
📅 April 22–24, 2027

Banished from Mount Olympus after angering Zeus, the Greek Fates are stripped of their powers and exiled to a modern office building in the mortal world. But even among cubicles, coffee breaks, and city loneliness, destiny still has a way of weaving people together.

With a soaring contemporary score and a story filled with humor, heart, and hope, String is an uplifting musical fable about fate, love, and the fragile threads that connect us all. In a world on the verge of unraveling, it reminds us that humanity may still be worth saving.

🎟 More information about auditions, tickets, and special events coming soon.
📍 All performances take place at Rector Little Theatre.

Join us for a season that imagines the future, confronts the present, and asks one essential question: When everything is on the brink…what makes us human?
