We have to give a BIG shoutout to all the awesome students who have come together to make The Apiary by Kate Douglas set, costumes, and props! As you may know, UCU Theatre is a scrappy operation with a DIY attitude!

This play is especially exciting because it blends environmentalism, the macabre, and a little fantasy into one compact package! And, thanks to the generosity of our sponsors: Helen Mills and Gary Tannenbaum, we are able to bring the playwright, Kate Douglas, to the Wednesday night performance!

Also a huge thanks to generous donors Clavia Ruth Wooton-Kee, Barry Douglas and Steiner Ball, and Jennifer Travers Skidmore for making this event possible!

🐝 Rehearsals for The Apiary are chugging right along!

Our cast and crew are working incredibly hard to bring this strange, funny, moving, and truly fascinating play to life. Every rehearsal is adding another layer to the world of the show, and we are so excited for audiences to see what this team has been creating.

The Apiary by Kate Douglas is a smart, imaginative play about work, connection, survival, and what happens when humans start trying to solve problems that may be bigger than they understand. It’s funny, surprising, a little weird—in the best possible way—and unlike anything we’ve done at UCU before.

Performances are coming up October 21–24 at Rector Little Theatre, and tickets are pay-what-you-can.
