Four County Players Central Virginia's Longest Running Community Theater, now in our 54th Season!

Founded in 1973, Four County Players is Central Virginia's longest continuously-operating community theater. For almost 50 years, the Players have delighted audiences with a full range of theater experiences. Located in the small village of Barboursville, the theater is the cultural hub for the community, serving as both an artistic and educational center. The Players are well known for their masterful musicals, hilarious comedies and magical productions of Shakespeare.

THE BEST CHRISTMAS PAGEANT EVER: THE MUSICAL features book and lyrics by Jahnna Beecham, music and lyrics by Malcom Hillgartner, and is based on the play by Barbara Robinson. It will be directed and choreographed by Geri Carlson Sauls and assistant directed/choreographed by Marissa Lahr, with music direction by Paulius Sinkora and vocal direction by Virginia Garey. It opens November 20 on the Mainstage and runs weekends through December 13. Tickets on sale to 4CP Members on October 30, and to the general public on November 2.

Four County Players is now accepting submissions for Season 55, the 2027 - 2028 theatrical season. We are looking for passionate, creative, talented, collaborative DIRECTORS with proposals of the shows they would like to direct.

Submissions must be received by WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 30, 2026 to be considered. You will be notified no later than January 31, 2027 whether or not we are interested in moving forward with your proposal for the 2027 - 2028 season.

NOTE: While we are always interested in hearing what our audiences and volunteers would like to see onstage (information which we gather from our annual audience survey), this submission request is specifically for DIRECTORS to propose productions for the season. We are also interested in playwrights submitting their original works, and they are always welcome to do so, but show(s) with directors attached will be given first consideration.

GEORGE A. ROMERO'S NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD LIVE is written by Christopher Bond, Dale Boyer, and Trevor Martin, and created by Christopher Harrison and Phil Pattison. The 4CP production will be co-directed by Katie Hutchins and Mary Speed, with vocal direction by Sara Harkrader and choreography by Kristen Dillehunt. It opens in the Cellar on October 9, and will run Thurs - Sun through November 1. Tickets on sale for 4CP Members on September 18, and to the general public on September 21.
