SPOOKY TRI-STATE SCAVENGER HUNT RULES👻
⚠️ IT WILL BE IN YOUR BEST INTEREST TO READ ALL OF THE RULES CAREFULLY. ⚠️
1. NO CEMETERIES & NO HAUNTED ATTRACTIONS!
I understand why you might think we’d hide something there — it is Spooky Tri-State, after all — but NO! The prize will not be hidden in a cemetery, graveyard, haunted attraction, or haunt property. Please don’t go searching those places. All prizes will be hidden on PUBLIC LAND!
2. KNOW YOUR SEARCH AREA!
Spooky Tri-State travels up to about TWO HOURS outside of Huntington to visit haunted attractions, and that same general radius is fair game for these scavenger hunts! If you want an idea of just how far that reaches, check out our ALL LOCAL HAUNTS LIST. It’ll give you a pretty good idea of the territory you’re dealing with. But remember Rule #1: the Prize Ghost WILL NOT be hidden at a haunted attraction!
3. BE SAFE!
Do not go anywhere that looks unsafe. Do not climb fences, cross barriers, enter restricted areas, trespass, or go anywhere you know you’re not supposed to be. I WILL NOT PUT YOU IN HARM’S WAY! Every hiding place will be in a fairly accessible, easy-to-reach location. If getting somewhere feels dangerous or wrong, you’re looking in the wrong place.
4. NO DIGGING OR BREAKING ANYTHING!
You will never need to dig or break anything to find the Prize Ghost.
5. RESPECT THE AREA.
These hunts are meant to be fun. Please respect parks, trails, public spaces, wildlife, and the people using them. Be respectful of Bridges, signs, structures, landscaping, and anything else you encounter while searching.
6. THE CLUES MAY BE TRICKY — THE HIDING PLACE WON’T BE.
You may have to decode, research, investigate, make connections, or think outside the box to figure out WHERE to go. Once you solve it, though, you shouldn’t have to risk life and limb to find the prize.
7. DON’T ASSUME EVERY CLUE IS LITERAL.
Words, pictures, numbers, symbols, history, riddles, codes, and even things that seem completely useless might matter. Sometimes a clue tells you where to go. Sometimes it tells you where NOT to go. Pay attention to the little things — even Triangles, arrows, shapes, or patterns could catch your eye.
8. PLEASE DON’T SPOIL THE HUNT.
If you figure something out, have fun with it! Please don’t publicly post exact locations, solved clues, confirmation codes, or other information that ruins the hunt for everyone else.
9. FINDING THE LOCATION DOESN’T MEAN YOU CAN IGNORE THE RULES.
If your solution seems to lead somewhere private, restricted, dangerous, fenced off, or otherwise off-limits, reconsider your solution. The actual hiding place will follow these rules.
10. THE PRIZE GHOST 👻
The Prize Ghost will be protected from the elements and hidden with instructions explaining how to claim your prize. YOU’LL KNOW IT WHEN YOU SEE IT! When you find it, please CALL THE NUMBER PROVIDED or CONTACT THE SPOOKY TRI-STATE FACEBOOK PAGE and read/show me the CONFIRMATION CODE included with the ghost.
