Are there any aspiring fashionistas in the area who would be interested in being part of some local fashion shows and challenges? Some events will be for charity, others will be paid work. No experience or supplies will be required, and all levels of proficiency are welcomed! Looking for models, designers, and show hosts. All body types and fashion aesthetics are wanted. Events are designed to encourage individual expression and foster community collaboration. These are not competitions or intended to be competitive, at all. To learn more or get involved, send me a message or leave a comment with your preferred contact method. Examples include: Forum, social group, email list, chat room, in-person meetings, etc. (I am still trying to figure out the most effective method for coordinating groups of folks, not just here, but anywhere.) Thank you!

Hello, all. Big announcement time!

For months now, I have been visiting uniquely promising local businesses to find folks who would be proud to post a sign I made and be added to a database of locations that welcome all types of self expression on all bodies. Now, in various establishments around Canton and Northeast Ohio, you can find them welcoming guests of all forms to a Self-Expression Safe Haven.

The list is still relatively small, but growing faster than I can keep up with. My aim is to encourage the development and growth of not only a more vibrant place to visit, but also a full-time, livable location for all kin. To everyone who has ever felt “othered” for their appearance or mannerisms, I hope you will feel wanted here. ^.^

Hello Canton area friends! Do you love to sing, talk, and want something new to do on the second Friday of the month?

Be there on Feb 9th for the grand opening of a brand new social entertainment venue right here in Canton! Located in the space right next door to the Thrift Chicks store, it is a comfortable and accommodating place for small gatherings of many types.

This Friday from 4-6pm, there will be a Grand Opening party which will be open to everyone who wants to see the new space, have a cupcake and some refreshments, and enjoy some good music provided by a live DJ. The Thrift Chicks store will be staying open late to celebrate the first event in its next door venue space, so be sure to enjoy a leisurely stroll through the shop to see what speaks to you.

Immediately after, turn up for the very first Local Vocal Lounge. A new monthly meetup for Canton area singing enthusiasts the second Friday of each month. Bring your own backing track or select a song from a 300k song karaoke library to share your voice in a comfortable, supportive space. When you’re not on the mic, take the opportunity to trade tips, techniques, and stories with your fellow local vocalists.

The LVL meetup will begin at 6pm and go until at least 9pm. For less than the price of one movie ticket and snacks, you can enjoy 3+ hours of music, singing, socializing, and savoring the included hors d'oeuvres, sweet treats, and beverages.
