Our conservation efforts are growing! We’ve created a Monarch Waystation through Monarch Watch! This vibrant garden is designed to support monarchs and other pollinators year-round with essential food and shelter, helping strengthen local conservation efforts right here in our own backyard. Pollinators play a vital role in our ecosystem and are essential for producing many of the foods we rely on every day. We can’t wait to watch the garden grow and see the variety of pollinators that will visit throughout the seasons! 🌼🦋🐝

Help us welcome Bobert, the Blue Tongued Skink! Blue Tongued skinks are native to Australia and get their namesake from their bright blue tongues! When the skink is threatened, they will puff up their body to look bigger, hiss, and flash their blue tongue at a predator. The sudden flash of color may surprise and confuse the predator just long enough for the skink to scurry away. Thank you to H**p Habitat Rescue & Sanctuary for helping us with this new addition! Bob is still settling in, so he will not be brought out for keeper chats until he finishes a standard quarantine period.

June is National Dairy Month, and here in Wisconsin, America's Dairyland, we have plenty to celebrate! 🐄🧀🥛 Dairy farming has long been an important part of our state's history, economy, and culture. As we recognize National Dairy Month, we're grateful for the farmers and agricultural communities that help make Wisconsin unique!

If you’ve been to the zoo lately, you may have noticed some changes to the Goat and Donkey yards. We are currently working toward accreditation through the Zoological Association of America, an organization that sets high standards for animal care, welfare, safety, conservation, and education. Accreditation is an important achievement for zoos because it demonstrates a commitment to maintaining professional, ethical, and safe practices for both animals and guests.
As part of this process, we will be transitioning to scheduled animal contact times that are monitored by staff to help ensure the safety and well-being of both our guests and animals. When direct contact sessions are unavailable, guests can still enjoy feeding the donkeys and goats using the PVC feeding tubes attached along the fence line with approved food pellets. This project still needs some finishing touches, so stay tuned for updates on when you can expect contact times to be.
