Tonight, I was honored to receive an award at the Ray’s Weather and Blue Ridge Conservancy Calendar Awards Ceremony. Three of my photographs made it to the finals, and “Heaven’s Path,” captured on Roan Mountain, was selected as the winner for the month of May.

More than 850 photographs were submitted by 215 local photographers, making it an incredible honor to be chosen.

The evening became even more special when my friends and fellow photographers Helga and Badger also received awards for their winning images. Helga, Badger and I make up the photography gallery at Mountain Hugger Co., and together, our photographs earned three featured months of the 12 month calendar.

They say you can judge a person by the company they keep. In my case, that would be an honor. When people talk about running with winners, this is the group I’m proud to run with!
