Bangor Beautiful continues to beautify Bangor, Maine buildings with public art. You can donate to support this work! Read details in their post below.

This September, Maine artist Rachel Gloria Adams and her team will transform the large wall at 2 Hammond Street into a vibrant new downtown landmark. The design incorporates patterns created by five Bangor-area artists, making this a true celebration of local creativity and community. 🌈

On October 20th, poet Stuart Kestenbaum will be speaking at the Bangor Art Society meeting on "Poetry and the Creative Process." Save the date!

Stuart Kestenbaum is the author of six collections of poems, most recently Things Seemed to Be Breaking (Deerbrook Editions 2021), and a collection of essays: The View from Here (Brynmorgen Press). He, along with his wife visual artist Susan Webster, published A Quiet Book (Brynmorgen Press 2024), a collection of collages and improvised handwritten text.

DEADLINE EXTENDED FOR BANGOR ARTS AWARD NOMINATIONS!

The fifth annual Bangor Arts Award for an individual or entity that embodies or supports the vitality and creativity of Bangor’s art community will be announced at the ARTober opening event in early October. The winner will receive a $1,000 cash award and recognition at Bangor City Hall.

The City of Bangor’s Commission on Cultural Development is seeking nominations for an individual (self-nominations allowed) or organization that participates in, has influence on, or supports the arts in Bangor. Nominees may work in or in support of any artistic medium, including, but not limited to, visual arts, music, performing arts or written art.

The deadline to submit a nomination has been extended to Thursday, Sept. 10.
