Happy Valentine’s week friends!

our team is hosting a special flash event this Friday, February 13 from 10 AM to 4 PM! Our skilled artists are going to have special flash deals available both simple and a little bit more intricate designs!

We’re partnering with and to collect menstrual products to go straight to underserved students or students with limited access to these products in the greater Bangor area!

Our team at Timber Hearth will be offering $10 off of any of our designs if you bring in an unopened menstrual or feminine hygiene product! While we will be accepting product donations all month the $10 discount will be valid only on Friday the 13th.

But it’s not just us.

It takes a village to serve a mission like this so be sure to check out what and .tattoos have going on down at Three Graces Tattoo on both the 13th and 14th! They paired with .co and Gateway Beyond the Veil Tarot to bring some really cool stuff in exchange for the same unopened products.

if you see one of the designs that you like from our studio, but can’t make it on the 13th, please reach out to our individual artists to talk to them about setting an appointment for that tattoo!

It’s a busy week, but we will be posting up some of our flash here in the next couple of days and if you have any questions or thoughts about our event, please drop them in the comments or shoot us a message! We’ll get back to you just as soon as we can!

Thanks so much and happy Valentine’s Day from our Hearth to you✨❤️❤️

Richard came to me last year with the idea to start a creepy cryptid sleeve with creative freedom and we got to work!

I grew up reading cryptid books and imaging what scary monsters roamed the old Maine woods. I also grew up reading Hellboy by Mike Mignola and fell in love with his art style.

So this sleeve in progress is a love letter to the spooky stuff I I imagined as a kid and to the artwork of Mike Mignola.

Thanks for your trust, Richard! Can’t wait to keep working on this with you, homie 🤘🏻✨🌲

You may have noticed someone new posting on our account for Hearthtober. Now that our apprentice, Sam, has reached new milestones in their journey we have brought a new Hearthline aboard to begin an apprenticeship and work with us once he completes it!

It is with an honor and privilege that we announce Corey Pool as our new tatter tot and esteemed colleague! Corey has gotten a fair share of work done at our studio and has been practicing his art since he left the military.

He is inspired by anime, manga, the dark, the whimsical and culture in his art. Like most tattooers and the rest of us Hearthians he errs on the side of sarcasm and dark humor so don’t be afraid to welcome home and joke around when you see him by our hearth!

Post up and welcome Corey to our hearth and give him a follow at

Hearth river day 14- t r u n k

I was definitely going to draw a mimic from D&D for this piece but decided to go with a tree trunk idea instead of a chest!

I love drawing gnarled and twisting things like this because finding the proportions and shape for them is always a challenge!

We got the opportunity to get together as a hearth yesterday and give Mischa ( ) a proper send off as they begin their new journey at in Ellsworth!

Throwing axes has been our mini-tradition for the past couple of years so we spent the afternoon doing that, drinking merrily, and taking some time to be thankful that they have been such an integral part of our studio the past couple of years.

I mentioned it to them yesterday, but in the days of burn-out, self-doubt, and getting too in my own head, watching Mischa kick ass at learning their craft, build an amazing clientele of kind people, and seeing that just by the virtue of being themselves they’ve already made the tattooing community a better place than they found it and have inspired me to keep going and getting better when I didn’t want to.

We’re a better studio and a better team for having Mischa with us and we’re incredibly excited for them as they start this new chapter in tattooing.

Thanks for spending some time with us, Meech🤘🏻❤️🌲

Until we regroup🫡

Swipe to the end for a fun surprise✨

✨g r a d u a t i o n✨

Tattoo apprenticeships tend not to come with traditional diplomas but I’ve endeavored to keep the tradition of giving, to those who have carved their own path and earned a place in our community, a tattoo of a tattoo machine to show that they have successfully completed their apprenticeship and are now expected to hold their own as a full-fledged artist.

Yesterday I had the honor of giving my third ever machine tattoo to Cody ( ). Cody has put in the work to learn his craft, seek balance in tattooing and being a loving father and husband, and carving out his place in our community.

We also sat down and cast his runes with intention about his career in tattooing and tattooed those guiding symbols into the armature bar of his tattoo machine tattoo so that this piece of art is truly something that belongs to him.

ᛗ᛬ᚷ᛬ᚺ

He has still has much to learn, like we all do, but it was time for us to recognize the mountains he’s climbed so far to earn his spot in our community.

Congrats, Cody! We’re mighty proud of you and excited to see where tattooing takes you in the coming years. Welcome to the club🫱🏻‍🫲🏽🫱🏻‍🫲🏽

Do you have a favorite tattoo or an awesome experience with Cody? Post up in the comments, we’d love to hear about it!

Yesterday was our fourth birthday and I completely forgot to post! Four years go by in the blink of any eye.

I’ve learned a lot about tattooing, leadership, burnout, myself and those I’ve had the privilege of working with over the years.

When I opened Timber Hearth at the end of 2020 I had no idea whether or not I would succeed. I didn’t know what I wanted for a future in tattooing and I didn’t want to be as much of a leader as I’ve become.

With lots of blood, sweat, tears, and four years I think I’m finally able to look back at the journey so far with an objective point of view and I am incredibly grateful for everything. The good, the bad, the laughs, the fear, and the path that has revealed itself.

I’m grateful for our incredible team, their values, and the way that they endeavor to make tattooing a more kind, human, and collaborative place. I see your commitment to tattooing, I see the victories, the hardships, and I see you pushing forward to hone your craft even when the path isn’t always clear. Your professionalism and skill makes me want to be the best tattooer and leader that I can be, so thank you for inspiring me!

And, of course, a major thank you to our clients. Without your trust and confidence in us, the hearth simply would cease to exist and we are grateful that you choose to spend your hard earned money and trust with our studio to bring your ideas to life and help you feel more comfortable in your own skin.

I don’t know what the next four years will hold but I know Im excited to continue walking this path with our team and welcoming both new and old friends to our hearth so we can help them tell their story 🤘🏻🌲✨

Our story continues by the hearth 🌲🌲🌲

Hey friends! We’re participating in Bangor’s first Friday art walk ( )this Friday October 4th from 4-7pm!

We’re not selling any physical art and don’t have any special gallery showings but we are experimenting with something new:

We’ll be hosting a meet the artist night at the Hearth.

A lot of people I’ve talked to have said that if can feel very difficult to get in touch with some tattoo artists to get work done so we’ll be posted up to answer questions about tattooing, have tattoo consultations for future appointments, schedule you for a future tattoo consultations or appointments, and to just say hey!

Aside from some of hearth Crew ( David, Nina, and Cody) we will have the pleasure of having Zac Ladd, owner of Ink Therapy join us as well! 🤘🏻

So whether you’re looking to meet some new-to-you local tattoo artists and meet us before you work with us or you’re one of our existing clients who wants to get something on the books, we’ll be here for ya!

Are you or is somebody you know a licensed tattoo artist looking for a new hearth to rest by? ✨🌲

We’re on a mission to leave our community better than we found it by tattooing with empathy, compassion, and making sure that our clients stories are able to be told through the art that we give them. If that resonates with you, drop us an email at [email protected]

We’re a private, appointment only studio that strives to provide a calming and cathartic experience for our clients. While we aren’t therapists, we recognize that life’s problems have a harder time finding our clients while they’re in our chairs.

We also work, whenever possible, with local organizations to give back the community. We’ve worked with OUT Maine as well as the Acadia Wildlife Center to raise money for their causes and hope to do continue to do work to support them and other organizations!

We’re hiring a resident artist to add to our team. You’ll have your Own private booth to work out of, we provide communal printing and cleaning supplies and you provide everything else.

You’ll operate as independent contractor on booth rent so you get to set your own schedule, come and go as you please, and work as you see fit.

The successful artist will be able to manage themselves and an independent contractor, work professionally with your team and clients, stay humble and kind, and strive to make tattooing a better place.

All inquiries will be kept confidential and this is not an apprenticeship opportunity!

Interrupting our tattoo feed to bring you a plea from one of our clients, Al. We endeavor to tell people’s stories through tattoos but it’s rare that we get called on to help spread someone’s story to request help. Al has come to us and trusted in our art and now we get to repay that favor by helping spread their sisters story. In Al’s own words:

“I’m reaching out to local businesses that I frequent because I have a huge favor to ask. My expectation is low because I know not everyone can help for whatever reason and I respect that. Below I have attached a link to my baby sister gofund me in hope you will share to your platforms, I don’t have a big audience and I feel pretty powerless being in maine while she’s in Florida. My baby sister is 19 she got straight A through middle school and high school, she graduated early at the age of 17 and got her own place and two dogs. She’s a strong and independent person and she speaks her mind all the time. She’s my favorite person and it breaks my heart to see her like this. My sister was on her way home on her motorcycle wearing all the appropriate gear and a truck tried to cut across without looking and hit her and instead of being a decent human being the individual drove off. Leaving my sister alone in a ditch. I want to do my part in trying to get this story enough traction so that maybe someone will come forward with new information. I also want to help try to meet there goal for my sister so she does not have to worry about her medical bills and lawyer and for physical therapy/rent. I want her to wake up and be able to heal and get back to 100%.  I hate asking for help as everyone does but for my sister I will do anything.

I’m willing to give up anything if it means she won’t have to worry when she wakes up. She’s currently still in a medically induced coma so that she can heal, she has two spinal fractures and swelling/bleeding in the brain. She is on a ventilator but taking some small breaths by herself but still needs help.”

I can’t share it all due to caption length but Al goes onto ask for help from our community to share and donate if possible. Thank you for reading and sharing, friends! 🤘🏻🌲
