BANDON – The Bandon Fringe Festival will feature the reader’s theater presentation of Murder at Two Mile: A True Bandon Mystery at 5 p.m. Sunday, June 28, at the Sprague Theater, 1202 11th St. SW, in Bandon City Park.

In September 1923, Bandon was rocked by the sudden death of Ebba Covell, a healthy young wife and mother. The ensuing investigation exposed a tangle of lies, manipulation, and occultism, all from the twisted mind of a most improbable suspect. The shocking details and subsequent trial gripped readers around the world. Using actual articles, testimony, and court documents, Murder at Two Mile details the complex crime that still fascinates more than a century later.

Murder at Two Mile was first performed by the Gaels Readers Theater in 2018. A new group of readers, each of who have performed in numerous local productions, now brings this piece of Bandon history to life. They include original Gaels members Corrie Gant, Amy Moss Strong, and Mike Dempsey, who are joined by Nameer El-Kadi and Grant Goodwin.

Playwright Neal Davis has created several theatrical works based on local history with the assistance of the Bandon Historical Museum, including Bandon Burns! and Coquille River Anthology.

The 2026 Bandon Fringe Festival, which features a variety of performers and unique acts, runs from June 25–28 and is sponsored by the Sprague Community Theater and the Bandon Playhouse. You can grab a bite to eat before and between shows! There will be food trucks parked outside of the Sprague Theater, including Thirst Trap LLC, BnB Burgers, and Angelina’s Mexican. Sunday, ticketholders can enjoy a free ice cream social, courtesy of Joseph Bain/Bain Insurance.

16 bars of an up-tempo musical theatre piece, or a pop/country song.
There will also be a small dance audition.
Wear comfortable clothing and shoes to dance in.

Nunsense! It’s Habit Forming! A hilarious farce about a convent of Nuns staging a fundraiser to enable them to bury the last four nuns of their order who were accidentally poisoned by the convent cook, Sister Julia (child of God). The Little Sisters of Hoboken (well, what’s left of them) put on this riotous r***e packed with hilarious, show-stopping song and dance numbers, and it always proves to be a crowd favorite.

Rehearsal begin in June

SISTER MARY REGINA, MOTHER SUPERIOR: Female to play mid 60’s (Range: B3-F5): A feisty Sophie Tucker-type who can't resist the spotlight.

SISTER MARY HUBERT, MISTRESS OF NOVICES: Female to play mid 50’s (Range: G3-F5): The second in command, she is always competing with the Mother Superior.

SISTER ROBERT ANNE: Female to play mid 30’s (Range: G3-D5): A streetwise taught character from Brooklyn. A constant source of aggravation for the Mother Superior.

SISTER MARY AMNESIA: Female to play late 30’s (Range: Db4-C6): This nun lost her memory after a crucifix fell on her head. She is very sweet.

SISTER MARY LEO: Female to play Early/Mid 30’s (Range: G #3-G5): The novice, who has entered the convent with the firm desire to become the first nun ballerina.
