Introducing our newest represented artist — Deanna Schuerbeke. 🎨

Deanna is a Portland-based painter working in large-scale expressive abstraction — and her work does something most abstract art doesn't. It finds you. Not on the first glance. It arrives when you slow down, when you start noticing the colors and what they're doing to each other, when you realize your body has already registered something your mind is still catching up to.

She spent twenty years painting at night and on weekends alongside a corporate career before walking away from that life entirely to paint full-time. Since then she has attended residencies in France and New Mexico, received Second Place at the Oregon Art Center's juried exhibition Leaning into Abstraction, and placed work in private collections across the country and abroad. She works from Studio 87 at NW Marine Artworks in Portland — a converted industrial building shared with over eighty working artists.

Nineteen works are now live on the Nicart website. Each one comes with the full story behind it — because with Deanna's work, reading the story before you look changes everything.

Some paintings ask you to look. Morgan Johnson's of MorganJArt demand it.

Morgan is a Gold Beach, Oregon painter with a fifty-year career and a style entirely his own — Fractionalism, a self-coined approach that fractures familiar subjects through cubist planes and color theory until what you're seeing is simultaneously recognizable and entirely new. A bicycle wheel. A crane mid-flight. A single bird navigating a churning sky between turbulent air and unsettled sea.

His work carries ideas. Real ones. Argued through color and composition rather than stated outright. And once you know what you're looking at, you can't unsee it.

Twenty works are now live on the Nicart site — each one individually listed with the story behind it, because with Morgan's work, the story is always part of the experience.

And mark your calendar: Morgan's solo exhibition opens at the Coos Art Museum Atrium Gallery on November 14th, running through February 2, 2027.
