This page is getting more views than normal the last few days. It makes me wonder if some new IPMS USA Nats drama is brewing. I didn't go, but I've heard hints. Nothing specific yet.

(Also maybe I'm just paranoid. This page is definitely not *about* Nats drama. The stuff just seems to *find* me.)

Working on a cork-based base for the little anime mecha. Need to refine and rough up the cuts on the top layers.

I want there to be at least one little rock overhang in the base. I think a large, mossy stump will grow up out of the top of the hill, with vines, roots, and jungle plants all around.

I'm considering what to use for filler to incorporate the layers of cork with one another and smooth out the back side of the hill. Thinking spackle may be the cheapest and easiest to work with, as long as it doesn't shrink too much. I'm open to suggestions.

I had a great time working on the finish of this representation of my friend's family camping/beach SUV. It features custom decals, added roof rack crossbar, and sculpted awning. Not too shabby for a sci-fi, armor, and figure guy's first auto model!

Built from the Tamiya Land Crusier 100 Wagon kit. Simple base still to come!

My Scale 75 War Front 1:48 scale U.S. Tanker took second place at Winterblitz this weekend at the Museum of the American GI. It was a great show, and I was shocked that my work came in right behind the great Doug Cohen in the figure category!

Story time!

Once upon a time, two brave adventures went on a quest to find a dragon. With scant provisions they set out on a journey to explore the Dragon's Lair in a nearby county. Facing only a few hazards and diversions, they arrived to find the Dragon's Lair off Loop 1604 devoid of D&D Wizkids dragons in the appropriate price range.

Disappointed, but still determined to complete the quest, the art of divination (Google) revealed that nearby castle Gamelot could be another source, but the resident wizard reported there were no recent dragon sightings. But aha! Another Dragon's Lair was found, and it was rumored to contain at least one draconic creature in the desired price range, so the two adventurers set off again!

Upon arrival at the second Dragon's Lair, a bustling industry was discovered, but the dragon in question was not worthy of our champion. By this time, the sun was reaching high, but the adventurers' spirits were low. Still, there were reports of a vast dungeon (mall) nearby in which a Hero's Retreat was located that might harbor a worthy plundering beast.

The twists, turns, and multiple levels of the dungeon were challenging to navigate, and the growls and groans of empty bellies echoed through its chambers. When they entered the final chamber, yet more monsters were found, but no dragons.

At this point, one adventurer despaired and wished to abandon the quest. All seemed lost. No dragon would be found. We must return home in shame...but eat first.

However, the other adventurer consulted the scrying stones (Google Maps) one last time and expended mystical powers to call upon the tower of Knight Watch Games. The watchman cried out that she was positively beset with dragons! Three, no four monstrous creatures of the sort stalked the grounds, and heroes need only come and claim glory!

With this encouraging report, both adventurers agreed to answer the call for help! To take this one, final chance sn**ch victory from the jaws of defeat! And what's more, as they approached, signs of an Italian proprietor of flat, savory pies was operating in the vicinity of Knight Watch on Blanco Road. But this was no time to think of one's stomach! A dragon must be seized!

Upon entering the tower grounds, our adventurers were surrounded with flame breathing reptiles! Not three or four, but no less than six of the beasts scratched, soared, and slithered about the place--An excellent variety for the discerning shopper at quite a reasonable price!

A muscular, armor-plated, thorny-looking specimen was selected after careful discernment, and the quest was accomplished!

Huzzah!

And even better, the watchman gave a good report on the nearby Italian establishment. So to celebrate, the adventurers enjoyed cups of cold spring water, a submariner's sandwich, and a piping hot slice of cheese pie from Rock & Roll Pizzeria.

On the return journey, one adventurer repeatedly questioned the other about the worthiness of the dragon they selected. The other adventurer responded with stupendous assessments of the dragon's muscles, powers, pose, and quality. A fine creature indeed!

Upon returning home, the prized dragon was presented for inspection to the queen, and after a rest, it was determined that the dragon should wear a royal livery of gold in service of the kingdom, whereupon the adventurers made way to the smithy to forge a light and hardy coat of japanese gold, imported from TamiyaUSA, applied with the winds of SprayGunner and the tools of the royal artificer, Iwata.
