A drum is more than an instrument, Comrades.

It can carry history. It can call people together. It can teach us how to listen to one another. And once everybody finds the rhythm, something beautiful happens: individual sounds become a collective experience.

That’s what Discovering the Drum is all about.

Join Creative Nomads for a FREE, hands-on evening of African drumming where families and community members can explore rhythm, culture, and connection together.

October is FULL, Comrades.

Creative Nomads is bringing FREE art experiences across the city all month long, because creativity should be something you can participate in, not just something you watch.

From celebrating Poe and painting in the park to getting messy with slime, discovering the drum, painting pumpkins, and making candles, there are plenty of ways to come create with us this October.

And yes... FREE means FREE.

We’ll be popping up at Lexington Market, Druid Hill Park, the Fugett Center, Hollins Market, and Solo Gibbs Park, alongside some wonderful community partners.

Bring the kiddos. Bring a friend. Bring yourself. Try something new, make something with your hands, meet your neighbors, and spend a little time creating in community.

Six experiences. Five locations. One creative October.

Creative Nomads is headed to the International Poe Festival for TWO days of Community Paint, and we’re inviting you to put your mark on the art!

Stop by, grab a brush, choose a color, and help us create a collaborative work of art inspired by Baltimore’s love for Poe.

No art experience needed—all ages are welcome.

Its Where Art Start Wednesdays, and last Thursday at Hollins Market the beads were flying, and the creativity was BUSY.

We spent the afternoon making jewelry with a bunch of young artists who came ready to choose their colors, string their beads, make their own creative decisions, and proudly show off what they made.

These are the kinds of moments we love most:: when art is accessible, hands are busy, imaginations are working, and community gets to create together. Because sometimes, Where Art Starts is with a handful of beads, a little patience, and a whole lot of personality.

Comrades, Creative Nomads is bringing hands-on creativity into the community with two opportunities to slow down, try something new, and make something of your own.

✨ **Thursday, September 17 | 11 AM**
Join us at **The Fugett at the Intergenerational Center** for **Paper Quilling**: turning simple strips of paper into beautiful, intricate works of art.

💎 **Thursday, September 17 | 4 PM**
We’re back at **Hollins Market** for **Jewelry Making**, where you can design and create a bracelet that is uniquely yours.

Both experiences are **FREE**, because we believe access to creativity shouldn't depend on what's in your wallet.

Whether you're learning a new technique, meeting someone new, or simply giving yourself a little time to create, there is a place for you at the table.

As an Executive Director and Founder, I cannot do this work alone.

Having people who support you with their time and belief in the way you are showing up in the world matters more than I can express.

During one of our annual fundraising days, , I had some amazing people who raised their hands to support.

ASKING FOR MONEY IS NOT EASY, AND ONE OF THE MOST HUMBLING ACTIONS THAT HAPPENS AT A NONPROFIT, and I asked these folks to add this experience to their life journey, and they did not shy away. They leaned in, spoke up, ran up, and educated people on Creative Nomads and why they were willing to go to bat for us.

I am grateful, so grateful for the beautiful people orbiting our organization.

We are so grateful to announce that Creative Nomads raised over $16K with over 100 donors during !

Thank you to our Champions who enthusiastically asked their friends and family to make donations, those who took the time to donate their treasure to us, everyone who reposted and shared our asks, and to for continuing to host this special day that impacts not only the organizations receiving the funds, but the people who are the recipients of our labors of love.

Please remember that grassroots organizations, especially Black-led organizations, are most often not well-funded. This will not be the last time we ask for donations to help us purchase art supplies, pay facilitators, feed families, and more. So have grace with us and continue to support the orgs that are making a difference in your community and the world.
