Our students take the stage as composers, performers, and conductors for a concert that shows what media scoring actually looks like in real time.

This is the first concert of its kind at Peabody, and one of the first media ensemble performances like this anywhere.

Our MfNM professor composed an original score for a new dance-theater work premiering in NYC on April 24th & 25th!

The Truth Is The Truth Is The Truth Is — part ghost story, part lecture, part domestic ritual, part q***r séance — loops, fragments, and reimagines the literary and romantic legacy of Gertrude Stein & Alice B. Toklas. It’s an intimate, genre-defying performance that asks what it means to live (and relive) a life in language.

For the last day of women’s history month, here are two women composers in the video game industry right now making amazing art!!! Winifred Phillips () and Yoko Shimomura have been composing for video games since the early days and franchises, and will forever be names we remember in the video game audio world!!!

Happy Black History Month!!! Did you know that a lot of early Black jazz musicians were also film and TV composers. Now, 65 years later, there is more diversity within the film scoring space than there has ever been. Some major influences in the industry now are composers such as (The Wild Robot, Bridgerton), (The Acolyte, Get Out), and (Clemency, Dear White People)!!!

senior, Ashna Pathan has her capstone musical, Senior Year Is Gonna Kill Me!- The Murder-Mystery Musical, opening this weekend at Arellano Theatre. Showtimes are Friday 5/6 at 8:30 pm, Saturday 5/7 at 8:30 pm, and Sunday 5/8 at 1:30 pm . Be sure to check it out!

Congratulations to junior, Vincent Fasano, who will be interning this summer with composer, Herman Beeftink. “I have been a really big fan of Herman’s concert music for a long time and getting the opportunity to work with him as well as on his scores is such an amazing opportunity that I’m very grateful for,” describes Vincent.

Congratulations to rising senior, Jolene Shao, for being a 2021 LAUNCH Grant recipient! The goal of this project is to digitalize a famous 17th-century Chinese painting- Along The River During The Qingming Festival (Suzhou Ben, circa. 1635)- in a VR environment equipped with interactive audio and an original soundtrack. The final product is expected to be an immersive experience in which the players could infinitely "walk" in this painting, watch the ancient view of Suzhou City, and learn about people’s typical lifestyles, cultural activities, business affairs, and other noteworthy events that shaped Ming dynasty China. Making it both a visual and aural enjoyment, Jolene aims to turn this into a unique entertainment experience, and an immersive educational tool accessible to everyone on a phone or a tablet.
