BIG Show Art Crush:
World Wide Web of Peace by Arlene Butler

A circle, a web, and a flock of tiny bright things caught in motion.

Arlene Butler’s World Wide Web of Peace feels delicate and hopeful without getting too tidy about it. Gold lines bend and cross like paths, wires, borders, or connections, while colorful origami-like forms hover across the surface. Red, blue, green, gold, and silver pop against the open structure, giving the piece a sense of movement, possibility, and shared orbit.

Mixed medium
32 x 32 in
$349

Available now in The BIG Show, on view at Creative Alliance through Aug 29.

Come find a little peace in the gallery.

BIG Show Art Crush:
South Calhoun Street by Beth Taylor

A Baltimore block, softened by watercolor and memory.

Beth Taylor’s South Calhoun Street captures a row of city homes with warmth, looseness, and affection. Brick facades, stoops, bare winter trees, trash bins, doors in different colors, all the little details that make a street feel lived-in. The piece has the intimacy of a neighborhood walk, the kind where you start noticing the beauty in the familiar.

Watercolor
15 x 12 in
$125

Available now in The BIG Show, on view at Creative Alliance through Aug 29.

BIG Show Art Crush:
Oddments by Ann Weaver

Tiny triangles, big rhythm.

Ann Weaver’s Oddments turns scraps into structure, with cotton, wool, linen, silk, synthetics, batting, and thread coming together in a sharp, hand-quilted grid. The piece has movement, memory, and the satisfying chaos of many small parts finding their place.

Machine pieced and hand quilted
36 x 36 in
$600

Available now in The BIG Show, on view at Creative Alliance through Aug 29.

Come see the details up close.
