Thrilled to announce the Grand Opening of Jordan Faye Projects, our new gallery located on the 5th floor of the Cork Factory. Second Wind, our inaugural exhibition opens Friday October 14, 2022 with works by Christine Wolfe Strong, Matt Voelker, Linda Popp, Jenee Mateer, Lawrence Cromwell, & Jordan Faye Block.

The mission of Jordan Faye Projects is to elevate the work of artist educators. Few professions are as universally undervalued as working in education, especially in the arts. Our aim is to change this.

Artists who educate often turn their spare time into spare change, creating, selling and bartering with work that rivals their full time artist peers. JF Projects aims to celebrate these artists who educate as mentors in the field and who’s work is worthy of center stage. Join us in shining a light on work that inspires students and enlivens spaces as we open our gallery to showcase these talented individuals.

JF Projects is located at 302 E Federal St. 5th floor. Baltimore, MD 21202. Gallery Hours are Friday 3–6pm & Saturday 12–5pm (during exhibitions) and by appointment.

“As an artist and curator, this pandemic definitely shifted my practice and so as I stopped teaching yoga classes, hosting events, planning exhibitions, & going out with friends – I had to turn inward. And so I began to make a lot of work. Making these small meditation paintings became a part of my weekly studio ritual. They were cathartic.

So I asked a number of artists whose work I am intimately familiar with what they were doing, what are you making, has it shifted things for you or not? This show is a culmination of those responses. In a few instances you can see what an artist did pre-pandemic to then what they made during the pandemic.”

We invite you to explore the exhibition and work by these seven artists. The exhibition runs through February 27, 2021. Eubie Blake Cultural Center is located at 847 N. Howard St. Baltimore, MD 21202. Gallery hours are Wed – Fri 1–6pm Sat 11–5pm and by appt.

It feels like it’s been forever since I posted. Times like these have made us all go a bit inward and really take a look at the depths of light and dark within ourselves. So I think then this piece might be fitting to share. It’s one by one of my favorites by my dear friend Justyn Zolli and it’s called Shadow Run. ⠀⠀

It is currently still on view Milk & Honey Market by Vagrant Coffee – and can still be seen as they are open 8am–5pm. ⠀⠀

If you like this one — over the weekend I will be installing a dozen new works on paper by this amazing painter, so stay tuned. Will share them in my stories soon!

Our Story

Jordan Faye Contemporary was founded as a platform to give emerging artists a wider audience. Established in 2006, we championed the work of early to mid-career artists as well as providing educational opportunities for emerging artists within the region. Through our gallery exhibitions, our salon series program, off-site exhibitions and presenting works at international art fairs, Jordan Faye Contemporary exposed a larger community to the engaging and thought-provoking work of dozens of artists. The gallery represented a dozen artists, who are at various stages in their careers. The mission was to show work that is not only of contemporary interest but of lasting historical significance. The gallery was founded by curator, artist, and yogi, Jordan Faye Block.

In the summer of 2017, Ms. Block closed Jordan Faye Contemporary to pursue deeper yogic studies and begin a new journey, eventually finding a new home & studio in the Station North Arts District. In the Spring of 2018, she was asked to develop programming and curate exhibitions at the new Hancock Solar Gallery in the Nelson Kohl building. After an abundant and unexpectedly full year of curating at HSG, renovating Station North Books with owner Ned Sparrow, renovating her own studio, Thrive Atelier, with Robert Olson, and curating the walls of Milk & Honey... she realized it was time to bring her focus back to her own projects & space and launch her newly renovated curatorial art|yoga studio, Thrive Atelier and pursue larger curatorial projects as Jordan Faye Block.

Ms. Block believes that art is an integral part of life; it changes the perspective of those who engage with it. What was once known as Jordan Faye Contemporary is now aptly named; Jordan Faye Block.

Ms. Block is excitedly coming upon her 20th anniversary as a curator and over the last two decades she has created & run four galleries and curated hundreds of exhibitions, mentoring over 200 artists to improve their confidence, bolstering their knowledge of marketing and presentation of their work and themselves – she now continues to expand this to include helping people step into their higher Self. Jordan’s mission is two–fold; as a curator and mentor, to support her artists by curating independent exhibitions and to bring an energetic yoga practice to artists, patrons, and the curious community at her studio, Thrive Atelier.
