THIS is a killer lineup to end WTMD First Thursdays for the season.
We already know firsthand that Pressing Strings is sure to bring the house down. See you there!

🚨 SEPTEMBER FIRST THURSDAY LINEUP DROP 🚨

We're closing out the 2026 First Thursday Festival season with an all-Baltimore all-star lineup! ⭐

If you were a WTMD listener or fan of Baltimore's music scene in the early 2000's, you're definitely familiar with J Roddy Walston. A longtime favorite of Baltimore music fans, he returns to his old stomping grounds with something new.

Longtime friends of the station, Pressing Strings are no strangers to Live Lunches and First Thursdays. We've watched them gradually refine and master their craft, championing them along the way. More recently, they've expanded their footprint outside of Maryland. They've embarked on extensive cross-country touring; booked slots at beloved festivals including Floydfest, Palisade Roots & Bluegrass, & Cavefest; and were recently featured on Sugarshack sessions—a tastemaker in modern American reggae, rock, and acoustic roots scenes—reaching hundreds of thousands of global subscribers.

The high-energy, genre-bending rock of MR VCR has made them mainstays on WTMD airwaves for years. They hustle and work hard, performing gigs all over the state. We've loved witnessing their growth and hearing their sound evolve. We think they're well overdue for a First Thursday festival debut!

You won't want to miss this epic night of music and close to our season!

We were so lucky to have Hosa as this years stage sponsor for Woodshed Fest. Thank you for supporting live music in Baltimore!

We had a blast in Baltimore yesterday for the inaugural Woodshed Fest ( The Woodshed at Nate's Place )- a daylong event celebrating local music in a lot of different forms. Hosted by an amazing group of people, including Ricky Wise (), the event was a reminder of what community, music, and connection can do together.

We highly recommend checking out every one of these artists:

Wicked Sycamore
Enslow
Noah Pierre Band
Super City
Sweet Leda
Pressing Strings

Now your turn: what local music are you supporting right now? Tag them below — a comment goes further than you think for an independent artist.

Final lineup spotlight: Pressing Strings 🤘🎸

The Annapolis-based power trio led by Jordan Sokel has been building one of the most loyal followings in the mid-Atlantic for years, and for good reason. Six albums deep, consistently charting on WTMD, with a genre-bending sound that lives at the intersection of blues, rock, folk, and soul.

Pressing Strings is the kind of band you see once and spend the next week telling people about. Trust us, we know from experience.

Woodshed Fest. This Sunday. Two days away.

Lineup spotlight #5: Super City🕺🎸

Baltimore's coolest indie rock quintet doesn't just play — they perform. Killer hooks, coordinated choreography, and a sound that pulls from Stevie Wonder, Talking Heads, and Prince all at once.

Their 2023 record In the Midnight Room landed on radio stations across the country via SofaBurn Records. Baltimore magazine called them 'local rock gods.' The live show will make you understand exactly why.

Five days to go! Tickets are going fast.🪩

Lineup spotlight #4:Wicked Sycamoree. 🎻🎸

This all-female Baltimore/DC trio — guitar, mandolin, cello — brings a “mischievous”, genre-bending edge to contemporary folk that you genuinely cannot put a label on. Bluegrass, folk, blues, funk, jazz. All of the above, none of the boxes.
Charm City Bluegrasss competition winners (2019). Two WAMMIES (2021). A list of successful performances at venues and festivals across the Mid Atlantic. Wicked Sycamores latest album If Not Now dropped last year and it might be their best yet.
Woodshed Festt is so thrilled to have Wicked Sycamore join our stage. Don’t miss them!
July 26th. 🪩

Have we mentioned that admission to Baltimore Museum of Industry is INCLUDED in the cost of your Woodshed Fest ticket?
It’s true! This way, you can check out one of the coolest museums in Maryland and learn all about Maryland inventions while also taking advantage of the AC between sets. 😉

Lineup spotlight #3: Noah Pierre Band 🎷🎸

This DMV collective blends jazz, soul, rock, hip-hop, and beyond. Their debut album, Frames (2023), launched sold-out shows in NYC and D.C., followed by East Coast tours backing MLLN (opening for Lawrence).

Since 2025, they've served as Jarrod Lawson's backing band, hitting the Atlanta and Rochester Jazz Festivals.

Vocalist/guitarist (and damn fine human) Noah Pierre leads a five-piece that includes piano, bass, drums, and tenor sax, and the result is something you feel before you categorize it. They're truly making some of the most vital, living sound coming out of our region right now.

Noah Pierre Band's sophomore album Inwards is out now, and it's extraordinary. Catch them live at Woodshed Fest, July 26th. Tickets at the link in our bio
