Labtekwon, a pioneering figure in Baltimore's underground hip-hop scene, is not only known for his unique blend of avant-garde jazz and hip-hop but also for his academic work in cultural anthropology, specifically African Diaspora studies. His 2002 album *Song of the Sovereign* was inducted into the Library of Congress for its cultural and historical significance, making him one of the few underground artists to receive such an honor.
