AFM Statement on the Passing of Dolly Parton: “Before she was an icon, Dolly was a working musician,” says Tino Gagliardi, AFM - American Federation of Musicians International President. “Dolly never forgot the musicians who helped bring her music to life. Local 40-543 Board is thrilled to partner with Local 161–710 for a joint showcase. Space is limited, so please sign up soon. This is a great opportunity for new members to introduce yourselves and your playing to area contractors and personnel managers. Each musician will be allotted approximately five minutes to perform and should choose music that showcases their strengths. For example, musicians might perform a two or three minute solo followed by two or three minutes of orchestral or musical theater excerpt.

In order to accommodate contractors who are unable to attend, performances will be recorded.

Stand With Union Members Impacted by the Spokane Complex Fire
The Spokane Complex Fire continues to devastate communities across eastern Washington.

More than 700 structures have been lost, approximately 65,000 people have been forced to evacuate, and the fires are still burning. Among those impacted are union members and their families who have been displaced, lost their homes, or are facing tremendous uncertainty.

In times like these, our labor movement shows up for one another.

The Washington State Labor Council is asking unions, labor organizations and allies across our movement to support the Foundation for Working Families, its 501(c)(3) charitable foundation.

Contributions provide direct financial assistance to union members and their families as they begin recovering from this disaster.

Please consider making a contribution today. Every donation can help a union family begin to rebuild.

AGMA and the New York Philharmonic have reached a new three-year agreement that delivers strong wage increases, expanded workplace protections, improved scheduling, and greater recognition of Choristers’ work. The agreement also strengthens health and safety protections while advancing equity and inclusion. This agreement was approved by AGMA members and ratified by AGMA’s Board of Governors on July 13, 2026.
