This portrait is of Bella Dulce, she was was one of my fosters last year. She was very anxious when she first arrived from Puerto Rico, she wanted lots of attention, but she would also wince anytime you went to pet her. It was clear she had a tough life before, but looking at her now you would never know! I don’t think she could have found a better home than with her mom, Lucy. They go everywhere together and Bella is now a confident and happy dog. I love getting updates on how Bella’s doing and it was an honor to do her portrait 😊

Braulio gave us a scare yesterday morning around 10:30AM when he sprinted off for an adventure. He traveled by sidewalk and was spotted by many neighbors going North. I kept catching up with him and just barely missing him by a block. All my neighbors pointed me in the right direction until I was near Kenilworth Park, about 15 minutes driving from our neighborhood. A man managed to have him by the collar at 2PM and 5 minutes before I was there he wriggled out of it and took off again. I was so worried he was out there collarless, confused and scared. I put out flyers everywhere, posted on Craigslist, Nextdoor, contacted shelters, vets, and posted in as many FB groups as I could which ended up being shared over 400 times. Ultimately he was only found because everyone in Baltimore city worked together to text me anytime they spotted him and I am so thankful. Finally, Ben and Chelsea found him and posted on Reddit which another person texted me about and I was able to pick him up. He instantly jumped into my lap and started kissing me. I am so relieved. Thanks Ben and Chelsea and to all our city folks for finding him!

Charlie went to his new family yesterday and he’s adjusted quickly. He never wanted to leave my side while he was with me, but when he saw his new family he instantly bonded with them. He’s now having the best time playing follow the leader with his new shihtzu siblings that look just like him. Toby's Rescue

Charlie loves napping, looking for snacks, when you sing to him and soft massages. He may be blind, but I think he knows he’s cute. If you’d like more info on Charlie or our other foster dogs you can reach out to Toby's Rescue.

Say Hello to our foster dog, Charlie! He arrived this morning from Puerto Rico and has already settled in. He’s a shihtzu and great with other dogs and cats. He’s also blind, but that doesn’t seem to stop him from exploring! If you’re interested in adopting him, please visit https://www.tobysrescue.com/application

Hey y'all! My friend Kris Northrup has helped many cats over the years with medical assistance, rehabilitation and finding loving homes. I had a hard time when I moved here years ago and lost my best friend, a round fluffy rescue named Remi. I really thought I wouldn't be able to find another cat as special as him, but when I was ready Kris helped me find love again. I still miss Remi very much, but Stranger has helped me heal and I feel so lucky to have him.

Kris has also helped my friends find their companions and she still active with her rescue efforts so I am hoping to raise funds so she can continue to do amazing work for our feline friends in need. I'm donating 2 gift vouchers for pet portraits and winners will be drawn randomly on Feb 14th, 12PM then announced on here and www.instagram.com/kissmysnout

Tickets are $10 with unlimited entries. (If you donate more than $10 you will be entered multiple times. Example: $30 would be 3 entries.) For entries, Venmo -northrup with subject "Kitty" or paypal.me/krisnorthrup

2 Winners will be selected to win the following prizes:
*5x7" illustrated pet portrait ($85 Value)
*8x10"illustrated pet portrait ($127.50 Value)

All funds raised will directly go to Kris Northrup to help with vet bills, food costs, and any supplies that help her with rescue efforts and current fosters. Portraits cannot be redeemed at cash value. Winners will receive their custom art depending on queue of commissions before them.

About

I am very fortunate to have grown up in Alaska with nature and animals around me. Although I’ve wound up far from the splendor of the last frontier, the constants in my life have been my love of art and animals.

In 2010, while attending school for my BFA in Drawing and Painting, I began working with local pet rescues to transport and foster cats and dogs. From 2012-2015, I obtained my MFA while still working as a dog caretaker, teaching outreach art classes and boarding furry companions on a hobby farm north of Minneapolis.

It’s been a busy decade, but I am happy and grateful to be able to exercise these passions everyday as I manage a graphic design business with my partner and work with dogs in Baltimore, MD.
