🇷🇸 The Forest of the Witch is heading to Serbia!

Ayhan Hulagu will perform his one-man show The Forest of the Witch at The Smile of Niš International Puppet Festival.

Rooted in traditional Turkish shadow theatre, this original adaptation will be followed by a workshop where Hulagu will share his artistic practice and experience with festival participants.

The Forest of the Witch made history as the first traditional Turkish shadow theatre production to be performed on Broadway in its 700-year history and has previously met audiences at the Neopolis Theatre Festival, International Puppet Fringe NYC, National Puppet Festival, and International Toy Theatre Festival.

‘The Forest of the Witch’ is a contemporary adaptation of a 19th-century story, brought to life through traditional Turkish shadow puppets. Follow Karagöz and his friends as he cuts down a tree growing in front of his house and encounters an unexpected surprise: the tree is magical, and from now on, nothing will be the same.

With a 700-year history, Turkish shadow theatre is one of the world’s oldest shadow play traditions, brought to the stage through Ayhan Hulagu’s original solo performance. Join Hulagu for this hilarious and stunning show!
