Our Mission Statement: To unite boys of various ethnic, racial, and economic backgrounds through development and expression of their voices as members of the Maryland State Boychoir.

5 days ago, the Concert Choir returned form their 10-day tour to Alaska!

Day 7, boys had the option to either sleep in or visit the Denali Sled Dog Kennels in the morning. Once everyone was up and ready to go, we enjoyed arguably our best meal of tour at 49th State Brewing before our trip to the University of Alaska Museum of the North. After exploring the museum, we had dinner at the University’s dining hall before our concert at Christ Lutheran Church.

Day 8 was a no-concert day and we certainly made the most of it. Our day began with a Riverboat Discovery tour, where we got to sample Alaskan smoked Salmon, see seaplane and sled dog demonstrations, and explore a model Athabaskan village. After our tour and lunch, we made our way to Chena Hot Springs Resort where we enjoyed the pool, hot springs, and some outdoor time. We brought the day to a close with an awesome barbecue dinner and a roast for our seniors.

Day 9, we visited North Pole, Alaska to visit the gift shop and to feed some reindeer before visiting Pioneer Park. At Pioneer Park, boys had time to get lunch, and explore the exhibits and attractions. Next, we all made our way to the airport for our overnight flight.

Day 10, we arrived in Chicago and hurried over to the second leg of our flight home. Once we returned home, boys went home for some rest before our Welcome Home Concert in the evening.

Thank you to our hosts, staff, parent volunteers, board members, donors, and choristers for making this tour possible! As always, A GREAT TIME WAS HAD BY ALL!!!

As we all decompress from our travels, we still have many stories to share from our time in Alaska!

Day 4 began with water activities at Camp Maranatha in the refreshing 50-degree water. After everyone rinsed off, we made our way to Glacier Brewhouse in Anchorage for one of our most delicious meals of the tour. Shortly after, we made our way to Kincaid Park for some exploring before our concert and incredible dinner at Anchorage Lutheran Church.

Day 5 began with some more bus troubles. Fortunately, we were still at camp, so the boys enjoyed plenty of outdoor time before a trip to Walmart for some mid-tour necessities and souvenirs. Next was a service at Holy Family Catholic Church, followed by a stop at Point Woronzof to watch planes take off overhead from Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport. Finally, we ended the day with some delectable ice cream from Millers Market.

Day 6 was a very full day, being the day we visited Denali National Park! During our visit, we enjoyed a bus tour around the reserve and some hiking. Shortly after, the boys quickly enjoyed a wonderful dinner spread before our concert at Cantwell Bible Church.

Join us Sunday, August 9 for our annual Summer Sing. This year we will be singing Vivaldi’s Gloria and Mozart’s Solemn Vespers. Enjoy an evening of singing and refreshments, followed by a concert and a cake and wine reception!

Hello from Alaska! We have thoroughly enjoyed our travels so far, despite many bus troubles and long days!

Day 1 was our long travel day, with an 8 hour flight and an hour and a half on the bus. We finally arrived to camp and got some great sleep at around 2:00AM.

Day 2, we visited a musk ox farm for a tour and some singing, followed by lunch and a visit to the Palmer Museum of History and Art. Afterward, we briefly wandered around Independence Mine State Park before dinner and a concert at St. Michael Catholic Church.

Day 3 began with a stop at Potter Marsh and a delicious lunch on the way to Kenai Fjords National Park. Next we had a pizza dinner and concert at Ressurection Lutheran Church, before a four hour drive back to camp.

Starting tomorrow, the Boychoir will check off state 49 of 50! This year, our Concert Choir has the honor of traveling to none other than ALASKA! We look forward to all that this beautiful state has to offer and we hope you will join us for one or more of concerts:

About a week ago, our Tour Choir returned from their two-week tour throughout upstate New York and New England.

On day 10, we began with some pool time to try and beat the heat. After that, we made our way to Portsmouth, New Hampshire for lunch and a bit of exploring, and then to Old Orchard Beach, Maine for some more exploring and some great ice cream! Finally, we made our way to the Second Christian Church of Kittery for dinner and a concert.

Day 11, we started off strong with a trip to Len Libby Candies for some shopping and to see the world’s largest chocolate moose! After some shopping, we headed to the ferry that would take us to Chebeague Island for a delicious lobster bake and another wonderful concert. After the concert, the day was not over. While waiting for the Ferry back to Portland, the boys had some free time, which many of them spent singing on the pier and throwing the ball around.

Day 12 was particularly special, because it was the day we explored both Portland and Peaks Island. We first paid a visit to the Portland Head Light, the single most photographed lighthouse in the world! Next, we drove to Old Port, Portland for lunch and free time in the city. Not long after, we took the ferry to Peaks Island for a delicious dinner and a concert at New Brackett Church before going off with our host families for the night.

Day 13, we all made our way to the ferry terminal with our host families. Once we made it back to the mainland, we made our way to Freeport, Maine to visit the world’s largest globe and the L.L. Bean Headquarters. Finally, we made our way south to New Haven, Connecticut to settle into our hotel before (a bit of a throwback) a delicious Chilean dinner.

Thank you to our hosts, host families, staff, parent volunteers, chaperones, donors, board members, and choristers! You all made such an amazing tour possible! And, as always, A GREAT TIME WAS HAD BY ALL!!!
