Pinkkiss Pottery

Pinkkiss Pottery Handmade pottery featuring original and vintage illustrations I hand paint all of my work using underglazes much as a painter would use paints.

This line of tableware was handmade from slabs of clay that were hand thrown super thin and formed over a hand thrown mold to give them a slightly wonky look. The surface of the clay has been textured through the hand formed process and the marks made are left and highlighted to celebrate the handmade nature of the piece. I also print on the surface using my own technique of blockprinting, stampin

g and screenprinting, the same way a collage artist might work. I treat the surface of each individual piece much like a collage or painting and work in one of a kind's and small series. Each piece is coated with studio made food safe glazes and fired in my electric kiln making them strong and safe to use on a daily basis. My work is made with a lovely high quality terracotta fired twice in my electric kiln. Shawna Pincus is a ceramic artist living in Baltimore Maryland with her husband Michael and their two cats. She grew up right outside of Philadelphia and went to school at the Maryland Institute College of Art where she earned a BFA in sculpture. Once she graduated she decided
to go into teaching and earned a teaching certification from Towson University. Shawna taught in the Maryland Public Schools for 5 years before deciding to turn her dream of pottery into her full time passion. Other than creating pots, Shawna enjoys cooking, sipping a hot cup of tea, having new adventures with her husband and traveling to see as much of this world as possible.

Thank you all for an amazing 🎄. As always I was blown away by Baltimore showing up and supporting the local arts scene. I saw folks that I haven’t seen in ages and folks that I now get to see every day (thanks for showing up art team!!) ❤️. I sold almost everything I was able to make in between teaching and grad school🎉. My next market will be in May at the flower show so I have lots of time to restock!
Thank you for showing up, giving my pots a loving home and for sharing such kind words with me. It truly makes my heart happy.
Have a wonderful holiday season everyone! (My new years goal is to get back to posting on here more😂)

I’m getting ready for my first show since June! I’ve been crazy busy with my new job teaching high school, grad school and teaching pottery classes but I managed to make my way down to the studio to whip up some new pots for this Saturday! It’s one of my favorite shows and I can’t wait to spend the day with good friends, amazing crafts and yummy food.

Wish and I are back in the studio while taking grad class. She will be the smartest studio cat ever! 😂

A finished blueberry pattern similar to the last reel. This size bowl is perfect for morning yogurt with fruit and granola. This time of year I love eating local fruit for breakfast. Since we are at the beach, we bought fresh peaches and blueberries at the local farmers market and have been enjoying them for breakfast in the mornings.
Summer is almost over for us so I’ll be soaking in every last bit of it while I can!

Last minute pop in! I’ve been a busy bee this week as my first grad class started. This week I’ll be adding in a second for 6 credits in 5 weeks🤪.

It’s been really fun diving into art ed again and my brain feels like it is waking back up after a long nap. I’m really excited to begin this new journey!

In the pottery world I’ve been slowly unpacking work from the last show and getting things photographed. I’m not sure when I’ll have them listed online but as always, signing up for my email list is the best way to be in the loop.

If I can swing it, I’ll make one more batch of summer pots before I switch gears to fall/holiday pots.

What’s everyone got going on this week? Getting ready for a holiday weekend?

Some of the cuties still available today at Lake Fest! I’ll be here until 6😊
