Thought I would do one of those wrap up posts because it feels like Spring is wrapping up and we are headed full steam into summer. I went to Asheville for my bday and Mother’s Day with my daughters to visit my besties, Baltimore to speak on a panel about stomach cancer and life post TG, to NYC to see final performance with NYC Ballet, am making lots and lots of pottery, two graduations, gardening, and now preparing for a big show in July, after I stock all of my lovely shops, including some new DC spaces, which I will post about after I drop off. This is my season and I love it!!

I haven’t posted about these bookends because I only had 4 sets and they sold out right away but I’m making more this week because I want some for myself (always a good sign) and I’m hoping you all might want some as well! The flowers are floating it a background of sparkly recycled glass and the gold just pops- these are going to be so much fun to experiment with as far as color and what little scenes to put inside.

A little much needed sunshine today! Driving around this gorgeous spring tease of a day doing deliveries to - a treasure of handmade goods in Wi******er VA and which was bustling with plant lovers. Today is a remarkable day for me- 2 years since my total gastrectomy. I have a rare genetic mutation (CTNNA1) that predisposes me to stomach cancer, so this was a prophylactic surgery. The first picture is from tonight, as I’m loading a kiln. I have to lean WAY over to get the pots in there. I didn’t know if I would be able to keep doing pottery after my surgery, (leaning forward is hard at first- as I told my husband when I ask him to get stuff off the floor- “no flaps”- as in nothing keeping food down). My sister kept encouraging me, and was herself the model of strength and courage. Every time I do something hard, it’s with her in my ear, telling me I can do it- that she’s with me. The second photo is her and my dad. ❤️

This is definitely the fun part!! Pulling the ferns from under the white slip (actually underglaze in this video) and seeing all of the beautiful detail from the fern in high contrast. I love these in the electric blue on white clay as well- just need some live ferns!!
