👉 The Shinichi 👈

This Violin Cabinet prominently displays a prized possession, inviting the player. Easy side access, dramatic illumination, and humidification control via Wi-Fi create the perfect “shrine” for the violin.

🎻 DEDICATION:
Shinichi Suzuki dedicated his life to the instruction of music through his Suzuki violin method and developed a philosophy for educating people of all ages and abilities. Suzuki's experiences as an adult beginner and his philosophy of “character first, ability second” have inspired the pursuit of music by all ages and from all walks of life.

🎻 INSPIRATION:
George Nakashima believed that trees have a yearning to live again, perhaps to provide the beauty, strength and utility to serve man, even to become an object of great artistic worth. He explored the organic expressiveness of wood and chose boards with knots and burls and figured grains.

Wishing you much joy as the week comes to a close!🎻

🎻 The Bastille 🎻

The Bastille was inspired by the Bastille station of the Paris Metro (pictured below). In true art nouveau style, this cabinet embraces parabolic and hyperbolic curves.

Since the day, at age 39, when I first began playing violin, I have loved this instrument. 🎻

That's why I decided to grace this community with the name, "Violin Shrine." This is symbolic of my love and respect for the violin and my effort to create a safe space to design and protect my most prized possession.

Hilary Hahn was a huge source of inspiration for this project. It was her that made me realize the more I see my violin, the more I practice. Thus, the Violin Shrine journey began.

An incredible musician, Hilary Hahn's passion for violin is unmatched. Enjoy some of her thoughts on why the violin is so unique!

The project that spurned Violin Shrine was borne out of a combined need to protect my violin and the simple realization that when I keep it in plain sight, I practice more.

I had just returned from a trip to Paris and was awestruck by the elegance of Art Nouveau architecture; with no straight lines, it’s parabolic and hyperbolic curves and eye pleasing attention to detail.

Sketching on the backs of envelopes, scrap paper and napkins, a thought came mind; I would combine two ideas into one. I didn’t realize later, based on the reaction of my friend, Matthew, that I was creating functional art.

The name, Violin Shrine, is symbolic of my love and respect for the violin and my effort to create a space to display and protect my most prized possession. Since the day, at age 39, when I first began playing violin, I have loved this instrument, and this project is my contribution to all who share in this passion. I look forward to the adventure of showing you my creations....
