Dear Family and Friends,
I would love for you to join me at a very special evening on Saturday, May 2nd, from 7:30 to 10:00 PM.
The Eritrean and Ethiopian Student Association at Johns Hopkins University is hosting a graduation gala at the Bloomberg Student Center, 3290 North Charles Street, Baltimore, MD 21218. Doors open at 7:00 PM, and the event runs from 7:30 PM to 10:00 PM.
The evening will include a celebration of graduation within Habesha culture, featuring a mock graduation ceremony, an introduction to the student association’s charity work, and a showcase of artworks by featured artists, including three of my own 3D wall paintings.
There will also be a traditional coffee ceremony with hambasha and popcorn, Ethiopian and Eritrean cultural food, and performances by a cultural dance team, followed by open dancing for all guests at the end of the evening.
Before you come, I want to share something close to my heart. I just released a short music video called One Stroke on the Canvas. It is my story in song, of what painting does to me, the joy, the struggle, and the love of letting a finished piece go find its new home. Watch it and then come see my paintings in person.
