The Retreat is nestled in a serene, secluded 21-acre site less than ten miles north of Sioux Falls in southeastern South Dakota. The original camp was founded 38 years ago as a place for special needs children to enjoy the outdoors for a week in the summer. The property was abandoned and fell into disrepair. Stay/work art residencies for artists in all media; art exhibits and workshops; arts classes for adults of all abilities and in all media; rehearsal space for performers and musicians, a variety of weekend gatherings celebrating art and artists, intimate concerts and musical events; art camps for at-risk and special needs kids; and much more can be held in this low-cost, accessible space. It is slowly warming up and The Retreat is slowly springing to life. (The cats get most of the credit for this.) I am wondering if there is anyone out there who would consider donating a little time and expertise to work on the brakes of our much-relied upon golf cart. There is no stopping that thing, and constantly shifting it into neutral to stop it is both inconvenient and, frankly, probably not the safest technique. I've spent some time looking at You Tube videos of how to do this and it just is not in my wheelhouse to get it done so I'm hoping for some help from someone who might actually know what they're doing. Anyone? Btw, we supply food ...

Hey everybody ... we're still here! It's been a rough spring for us, but one thing we're sure will help lift our spirits is seeing all our Retreat friends back again ... creating and enjoying the beauty of life. So WATCH THIS SPACE! June is gonna be busy and that's just the beginning of the 2025 season! (And we finished the Main Hall porch since you've been here, so get on over!)
