Meet the Staff: Assistant Band Director

Brandon McGrew graduated from University of Louisiana at Lafayette in 2023 and has continued to build a rewarding career in education. Now in his fourth year of teaching, Brandon is especially excited to join the Band of Indians team and become part of the Tioga community. He is eager to contribute to the school’s tradition of excellence while building strong relationships with students, colleagues, and families.

Reminders:
1. Every Member of the Band must have a Parent or Guardian come to the July 17th Logistics Meeting (More details will be released on the Band App)
2. Band Camp is July 20th - July 31st 12:00-8:00 (No Weekends!)

Tioga High School Band is seeking an assistant ColorGuard coach for the 2026–2027 school year to join our current instructor as part of a collaborative, co-teaching Guard staff for both fall and winter seasons.
We are an established program committed to excellence, and we are looking for someone who is passionate about developing strong fundamentals, refining technique, and fostering a positive, supportive team culture. Experience with weapon instruction (rifle and sabre) is highly desired.
If you or someone you know would be a great fit for our program, we would love to connect!

Band Friends and Family, this Thursday (April 16th) is our yearly Spring Concert! These kids have been working incredibly hard to put on a fantastic concert for all of you. Wether you are coming for a kid or need something to do on a Thursday evening we want to have as many people for these kids as possible so come out and show your support for these amazing kids (It’s FREE) on 4/16 at 6 PM!

It’s that time of year!! Be on the lookout for THS ColorGuard applications in the front office at both THS and TJH!!

Perks of being in ColorGuard:
1. You’re learning skills that can earn you THOUSANDS of dollars in College Scholarships!
2. You get to be on a team and make lifelong friends!
3. You get to attend and perform at Football Games!
4. ColorGuard counts as your PE Credit in High School!
5. You’ll get to travel all over the state performing in ~10 Competitions per school year!
6. You don’t need ANY dance or flag experience to tryout - though it does help if you’ve ever taken a dance class before because the skills are the exact same!!

*Anyone who wants to be on the team next year must be at ALL four Clinic Days AND the Audition Day (4/20-4/24)

**Any 8th-11th Grade student who would be brand new to ColorGuard is welcome to attend our Pre-Clinic days in the TJH Brave Cave (dates and times are listed in the picture). Pre-Clinics are the perfect opportunity to come try ColorGuard and see if it’s something you like! We’ll be learning skills on these dates that will help you in Auditions. 7th Graders who are interested in our TJH ColorGuard class for next year are welcome to attend Pre-Clinics as well!

On Monday, we went to the LMEA State Marching Championships! We brought our all and it definitely paid off! We ended up placing 8th overall in the state! I’m so proud of all the hard work and dedication that these kids have put in this season and we are looking forward to a great concert season! 🎶
