Your post is confusing and I don't understand.... But let me take a stab.

Here's what happened, The homeowner did their own tile work, they think it's great! But disaster strikes when they realize they forgot to connect the tub drain up before they channeled the spirit of Pablo Picasso, I. A panic they called you for this simple job. You get there the stench of burnt m**h fills the air, the air inside the house is heavy with depression. You step through the horder maze following the annoyed homeowner to the bathroom they open the door. This is what you see....

It’s doable. You will need to remove the tiles surrounding it. I would mark in the left and right wall where that top row lands. Then remove those tiles around the niche. Reframe the top row a 1/2” bigger than the marked line. Install your 2x4. Install 1/2 backer. Waterproof around the niche again. Reinstall tiles.

You can do the same in the sides too. Just mark where those grout joints land and cut back 1/2” bigger. That all depends on where your studs land though.

I've yet to have someone request a linear drain. Wish I could try one! Lol

The basement in my house was finished when I bought it, but extremely dated, so I’ve been renovating it one room at a time. The ceiling in the bathroom is pretty slanted, so the gap between the tile and ceiling on one end is about 1.5” and on the other end about 2.5”. I’m wondering what I should do to fill the gap. This is my first time tiling, so I’m sure there are plenty of things I could’ve done better that you’ll notice in the pictures aside from the gap. Anywho, I’m just looking for advice and this community has been very helpful. Thanks!

Is my shed roof missing a component? Hi there, dude who considers himself handy but has very limited knowledge of house/frame construction and has never done any roofing. Appreciate in advance you tolerating my ignorance. I’m planning to replace the sheathing and shingles on my ~11x14 shed, and while taking measurements I got to thinking about the lack of joists/bottom chords in the roof - won’t that cause the walls to want to spread apart? That one horizon piece is not fastened to anything, just there as storage. As I’m typing this and looking at the pic I’m realizing that there is no ridge board - does that mean these qualify as trusses rather than a rafter system? My house has a truss system but they are way more complicated so I initially assumed these were not trusses but maybe they’re just very simple ones? Are those little triangle pieces up top sufficient to resist the desire of the diagonal members (I guess not rafters but maybe “top chords” if these are trusses?) to want to come down and push the walls apart? If location is relevant I’m in CT - historically we get medium amounts of snow, last couple years not so much. Appreciate any insight y’all can give me. Thanks!
