Hollywood spent a decade asking if YouTube fame could translate to the box office.

Lately, it has been getting a very loud answer. And we're about to find out at Bainbridge Cinemas.

Take “Backrooms,” a psychological horror flick that A24 released in 3,400 theaters in the United States and Canada on Thursday (May 28). Directed by Kane Parsons — a 20-year-old first-time filmmaker whose videos have generated 342 million views on YouTube — “Backrooms” is on track to collect at least $60 million by the end of Sunday, according to box office analysts.

BACKROOMS topped our ticket sales at our other Far Away Entertainment locations and will open on Bainbridge this Friday.

BACKROOMS starts Friday. This movie is an interesting concept: Unlike many movies based on decades-old franchises, Backrooms grew out of internet communities, YouTube, Reddit, and meme culture. Many younger viewers see it as something that came from their generation rather than being created by a major studio.
