On this day, the last day of August, we look back at the debut of our custom colorway from interlacements_yarns - Autumn in Door County! It looks great on many bases and we currently have it in stock in Tippy Toes Sock yarn and Wyoming Tweed as pictured. Wyoming Tweed is a non-superwash worsted weight American wool and I just love how the color takes.

We recently got in two newer colorways on the Wyoming Tweed yarn base: Door County Cherry Pie and Plethora of Purples. You can find them now at the shop or on our website. For your convenience, we have a section of the website for Door County yarns and other items. Or you can search Interlacements Yarns to find all of our custom colorways exclusive to Knit Whit’s!

Pattern is a free download on Ravelry: The eM Hat by Emily Russell and is a great basic beanie pattern.

We are thrilled to offer a 3-hour workshop class on Double Knitting with esteemed instructor (and fellow shop owner) Joan Sheridan! Joan will be in town to teach at The Clearing Folk School and she will start the week teaching at Knit Whit’s.

What is double knitting? Double knitting involves knitting with two colors at one time to create a positive and negative side of the work. It could be a hat, one sock knit inside the other as in War and Peace, bands to finish sweaters, garments, blankets, and so much more. In this class you will learn the basics — how to cast on, manage your selvedges and bind off for flat knitting. Your finished piece will be a hot pad. The cool thing about double knitting is that there is no “wrong” side and both sides look great.

More details and registration are available on the Classes page of our website (link in the comments). Space is limited, so snag your spot today!
