** Important Reminders for Avon Totality Rocks! **

GENERAL
☀️ The event is being held at the Avon Middle School from 12pm-4pm.

PARKING
☀️ To avoid contributing to traffic congestion, we are encouraging everyone to walk or carpool if possible. On-street parking is discouraged and will be closed in some places.
☀️ Parking will be available at the high school and elementary school. Golf carts will be available to shuttle people as needed to the middle school. Parking at the middle school is reserved for accessible parking.

REGISTRATION & GLASSES
☀️ There is no need to print or bring a ticket to the event. If you requested eclipse viewing glasses when you registered, they will be waiting for you at the Visit LivCo tent near the main entrance of the middle school.

WHAT TO EXPECT
☀️ Feel free to bring a blanket or a camping or folding chair if you plan on viewing the eclipse from the open field.
☀️ Food and drinks will be available for sale on site from various local restaurants; some vendors will be accepting cash only.
☀️ Don’t forget about the COSMIC COSTUME CONTEST, presented by Avon Rotary! Embrace the galactic vibes by dressing as your favorite character from Star Wars or Star Trek, or as aliens, astronauts, wizards, and more. Registration for the contest will be at 1pm at the Avon Rotary tent; contest starts at 2pm.
☀️ As per school policy, no alcohol, to***co, or va**ng devices are allowed on school grounds.

Q: Do you need to bring a printout or copy of your ticket to Avon Totality Rocks?

A: No! Your registration was extremely important for us in planning the event, and if you requested glasses through your registration we will have them ready for you at the event. No need to stress looking for a confirmation email!

The Friends of the Avon Free Library will be at Avon Totality Rocks with viewing guards for little ones to color - these guards ensure that the eclipse viewing glasses fit little faces well and don’t slip down!

If you have kiddos & are attending Avon Totality Rocks, be sure to stop by the Friends of the Avon Free Library table to make your own viewing guards - just slide your glasses in to get an easier viewing experience for little bodies!

This is our #1 question with Rochester Eclipse 2024

A total solar eclipse is a multi-sensory experience. Whether there are clouds or not, locations within the path of totality will be plunged into twilight in the middle of the day. The closer you are to the center of the path, the longer your experience of totality twilight will be.

Keep in mind: weather can change in an instant. If it IS cloudy, there is still a chance of the clouds parting just in time to experience the sight of totality. See the video below of this very occurrence in 2017 at Homestead National Monument. This is a 360 degree video, so you can move it around to find the Sun!

With both the Euro & GFS in fairly good agreement 10 days out, I'm comfortable suggesting a very loose lean toward an encouraging forecast for April 8th. We'll update this each day with added confidence and clarity. For now, I'm quite pleased with where things stand.
