With MM’s love for basketball and the creativity of artists and staff at the Bethany art studio, they crafted a basketball hoop using recycled objects and paint.

Plastic lid, metal frame for the net, acrylic paint, tape, and strongly woven twine to adhere the hoop to the backboard. A styrofoam ball was painted to look like a basketball. The hoop was set up to practice hand eye coordination as well as have fun. 😊

Imagination and innovation!

You will find messages of positivity and joy in our healing garden. For our June Brain Injury Alliance of Connecticut (BIAC) support group we gathered and created our own kindness rocks. We hope these messages brighten your day!

We meet every 3rd Wednesday of the month from 1-2pm, at our Avon and Bethany locations. Our gatherings always include an art-based activity and everyone is welcome. Save the date for our next meet-up on July 16th!

LP’s eye-catching collage titled, “Hashtag Back From War” has found its owner!

Based on the iconic 1945 photograph from V-J Day, of a U.S. sailor who grabbed and kissed a woman wearing a white dress. LP creatively added cell phones to the couple’s hands, representing what it may have looked like with today’s technology, capturing the moment for themselves. Through her art, she offers a unique perspective which invites deeper contemplation. Excellent details using collage as well, beautiful work LP!

The Netflix docuseries Abstract, offers an in-depth look at the world’s most highly regarded designers. We got to step inside the mind of automobile designer, Ralph Gilles this week. Growing up, through his father’s influence and ambition he was encouraged to work hard for his dreams. He had a strong passion for the arts, drawing concept vehicles at the age of eight. At age fourteen, his Aunt sent one of his sketches to then Chrysler Chairman, Lee Lacocca and Chrysler’s Design Chief replied encouraging him to attend design school. By 2015, Gilles became one of the youngest in the industry as Chrysler’s Head of Global Design.

We learned about the fundamental techniques of automotive design. His attention to details with the combination of function, form, and concept got everyone’s attention. We will never look at a car the same way and this documentary reminded us that you never know where your dreams may take you!
