📣RETIREMENT ANNOUNCEMENT 📣

The Little Mermaid will mark the retirement of NEBT’s soloist Jacob Shoup.

After many years of collaboration with the company as a guest artist, Jacob officially joined NEBT in the 2025-26 season. Audiences have seen his performance in The Myth & The Madness of Edgar Allen Poe by Christopher Fleming (2021), A Midsummer Night’s Dream (2024) and The Long Black Veil (2024). Most recently Jacob has been seen as Prince Ivan in ‘Firebird’, the Soldier and Harlequin Dolls in ‘The Fantastic Toyshop’ and has been featured in ‘Art of Loss’ and ‘The Rose Window’ in ‘Ballet Unbound’.

A few words from Jacob:
“I have been dancing for over two decades, and this year at NEBT is one permanently marked with joy and welcome. From dropping my sister in Mother Ginger, to lifting my wife in a professional company, the stage has been a companion to me along the journey. I poured my heart out there countless times, and died on it in at least seven productions over the years. In Afternoon of a Faun I was eaten, in Ahavah I was crucified, in Long Black Veil I was executed, in Edgar Allan Poe I died of madness, and I danced himself to death in Falling Sky.
Leaving the stage is a kind of death too, but a necessary one for a new stage of life to emerge. My Christian faith has always been a strong aspect of my life. In the coming years I am training to be a minister, to unite people around God’s truth, love and light”

🎉Join us in celebrating Jacob’s wonderful career at The Little Mermaid performances. June 6th & 7th at The Robert’s Theatre at Kingswood Oxford School🎉
