Shakespeare in Performance

Travis Curtright, PhD, founded and directs Shakespeare in Performance (SIP) at Ave Maria University, where he is Professor of Humanities and Liberal Studies.

This page is dedicated to his students and summer campers. The troupe comes from a theatre course taught by Renaissance scholar, Dr. Travis Curtright, at Ave Maria University. The capstone project of the class is a Shakespeare production, which includes educational outreach to high school audiences. Dr. Curtright, director of the plays, professionally trained at the American Shakespeare Center and regularly teaches a course on Shakespeare for the literature department as well.

What a June for Shakespeare in Performance!
A workshop, a camp, lectures, a shoot. Grateful for every collaborator who made last month possible!

Dr. C led a workshop for Chesterton Schools Network teachers on cutting scripts, blocking scenes, and teaching movement to student actors.

We wrapped filming on a new promotional video for the program.

We ran SIP Camp, where teens spent two weeks building a show from the ground up through Lecoq-based physical training.

Dr. C gave lectures to prospective students and families at Ave Maria’s Summer Leadership Conference on Thomas More and the importance of “making a part” for yourself in life.

Congratulations to Dr. C, whose book, “The Controversial Thomas More”, received an honorable mention from the Catholic Media Association! 📖🏆

The book offers an original and critical intervention on the writings of Thomas More and his opposition to King Henry VIII.
