When you enter Studio A, you see all these quotes like:

A place of possibility
Create amazing

But do you know why those are there? At Studio A, these reminders are what we would like to impart to anyone who walks through our doors: A place of possibility. (”The limit does not exist?” 😉) Create amazing. Practice with purpose. Practice is a purposeful, thoughtful event.

They're also not just random words put together for "inspiration"; they’re actual phrases our founder Dr. Scott Donald lives by. In fact, they’re front and center in his office! (Check out those sticky notes!)

We think these can also be applied to anything we do (art, music, crafts, sports, etc) and how we interact with people (choosing kindness, compassion, etc), don’t you think?

There are two works being performed at our Worlds Collide concert.

The first one is “Unpainted Pictures” by Kincaid Rabb, a six-movement work imagining O'Keeffe's wartime letters as paintings she never finished.

The second one is “O’Keeffe Suite”, a five-movement suite drawn from the paintings O'Keeffe made during her Texas years. Carrie Magin, who composed O’Keeffe Suite, talks about her inspiration for the work in this video.

See you this weekend!

We are so excited to have with us Dr. Amy Von Lintel, the leading expert on the life and work of Georgia O’Keeffe, this Friday and Saturday. You simply cannot miss this one of a kind conjuncture of music and art!

She's the author of two books on Georgia O'Keeffe's Texas years — Georgia O'Keeffe's Wartime Texas Letters and Georgia O'Keeffe Watercolors, 1916–1918 — plus the 2025 release Art at the Crossroads: The Surprising Aesthetics of the Texas Panhandle. While Georgia O’Keeffe’s incredible and storied career took her many places, she spent time in Canyon, TX where she served as the head of the art department at the West Texas State Normal College (now West Texas A&M University). While she was there, she was inspired heavily by the beauty of the nearby Palo Duro Canyon, eventually shaping her signature abstract style.

Hear about the Texas connection and the artist that paved the way for other woman artists, and then surround yourself with music and art on October 2 & 3.
