Opened in 1978, The Needle Works is Austin, Texas’ oldest established store for fine, hand-painted needlepoint canvas as well as for the largest selection of threads in the Texas Hill Country. After 30 years in the same shopping center, we have moved into our own building as of July 1st. Built in the Craftsman style of architecture, the store is 3500 square feet.

We’ve been working hard to get ready for our reveal and have checked in over 750 canvases already! We are starting a reveal at 4pm on April 30th for all our customers in store! We have new needleminders in as well and even more canvases coming! Come check it out in store and stay tuned for the next reveal time (we will have even more checked in to do a second reveal on Saturday!)

The Needle Works provides a spectacular collection of work, supplies, and classes for any needlepoint artist, beginner to advanced. Need help getting started? Ask us about our stitch guide writing services when you buy a canvas from us. 💬

Classes range from beginner, where you will learn everything you need to start, to private lessons where we can work on more personalized projects. We host nationally acclaimed guest instructors, as well as our own experts to add variety to every class.

To address the shortages with wooden stretcher bars we now have 3D printed bars. They are reusable just like the wood bars and work with wood bars too if you just need one new set. They can be used with tacks or staples and we’re working on having their size indicated on them too! Come check them out in store! We have blue, white, and a beige wood color currently!

Learn to Bead with Caroline THIS WEDNESDAY, April 29 from 4-7pm!

Are you looking to start adding embellishments to your needlepoint? Join us to learn a variety of techniques to add different beads to your canvas including lasso beading, brick beading, messy beading, and more! You will leave the class knowing how to bead in multiple different ways and with multiple types of beads and threads.

We will provide the materials necessary in the class, but if you usually use any specific glasses or tools feel free to bring that! Sign up online now to save your spot!
