That’s a wrap on Pueblo Revolt. 🩵

We closed this past Saturday to a standing ovation, and beautiful sendoff for our cast and creative team. We’re so grateful to every single person who came out to support and experience this production. It was an honor to bring this powerful new work to Austin audiences and to help uplift Indigenous voices on our stage.

Endless thanks to our cast, crew, designers, and creative team for the artistry, commitment, and heart you brought into this process.

And don’t go too far! This August, Ground Floor Theatre will present Emiliana: A Revolution Cabaret. More to come soon!

We’re so grateful to the .atx for joining us to share space and conversation with our community after last night’s performance of Pueblo Revolt. The discussion around the play and the work being done to preserve and celebrate Indigenous culture was deeply appreciated. Being in community together felt genuinely special.

Pueblo Revolt has been sparking powerful reactions and tonight is your final chance to experience it.

Join us for the final performance tonight at 7:30 PM.

Last week, Ground Floor Theatre lost a beloved member of our family, founding board member Susan Pollack. We’re grateful for her lasting impact on GFT.

Lisa Scheps shared these words in remembrance:

Let me take a moment to honor someone who was with Ground Floor Theatre from the very beginning, my friend and founding GFT Board member, Susan Pollack. Susan passed away last week and I will miss her dearly. When I came up with the idea of opening a mission driven theatre company and venue, Susan stepped up without hesitation to support the idea and joined Ground Floor Theatre’s board as one of its founding members.

She was a tireless cheerleader for the work we do, often chiding me for not getter her postcards of our current show soon enough. She believed in us and we are better for it. Some of you may remember seeing Susan with her dog sitting in the house or the two of them in the lobby selling raffle tickets. I’d like to think that it was Susan that convinced folks to buy, but it was really her dog Gigi… no one could resist the two of them.

Susan’s voice helped mold GFT… her spirit, energy, and heart helped make us who we are today. We will always hold Susan in our hearts and we ask that you do too.

There will be a memorial service for Susan sometime in July and you all are invited to celebrate her life with us.

Voting for the Austin Chronicle Best of Readers Poll closes tomorrow, May 18 at 11:59 PM.

We are honored to be on this year’s ballot! If you want to support Ground Floor Theatre in a quick and meaningful way, we’d love to have your vote for Best Performance Space/Venue, and for Lisa Scheps for Best Stage Director for her work on Parade.

We’re very proud of the work happening at GFT and it means a lot to see our community show up for local theatre the way y’all always do. 🩵
