How do you feel about the use of AI in music production?

DJ Quik drew a hard line against artificial intelligence in music, arguing that technology can never reproduce the nuances of a real artist:

“It’s a total violation of culture. It’s appropriation. You can’t recreate somebody that’s still here doing what they do. Don’t use my stuff because I know that computer is not gonna have my nuances. It ain’t human.”

Meanwhile, Dr. Dre recently told The New York Times alongside Jimmy Iovine that he views AI as “a new tool for creativity”, not a threat. Dre also revealed that he has experimented with it in his own music “as a tool to see what it would do with what I just did”.

Is AI simply another production tool, or is Quik right about it violating the culture?
