Wind doesn’t have to look dangerous to be dangerous.

A jump from 20 MPH to 40 MPH winds doesn’t mean twice the force on an outdoor stage—it means 4X the force. And when gusts can suddenly exceed sustained winds by 30–50%, waiting until conditions “look bad” can be too late.

For outdoor events, understanding wind is about knowing your structure’s limits, monitoring gusts, verifying ballast, and having a clear plan for when conditions change.
